Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team

https://youtu.be/XGgIWp1FN-U?si=OhKL239_z7wgFWlY Master class from Bradders, he had may as well be swinging a sadza pot. A little glimpse of AB https://youtu.be/q56Bm10rNa0?feature=shared I'm being facetious, I know, but there's just no comparison. I could find a clip of a 10 year old Indian prodigy...

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team

Here's another urban legend.
Bradman hitting a golf ball with a cricket stump.

I'm better than that

I know players that can do that with ridiculous skills.

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team

Actually Larwood is another guy worth mentioning. Some claim he bowled 145-150. You just have to watch the clips and compare them to Akhtar and Brett Lee steaming in to know that he maybe got it up to about 135 if he downed a litre of hot bull semen at high tea. Means the other quicks of that era we...

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team

Quick half hour net session to get used to the feel of these modern bats and a run down on what white ball bowling is about and old Bradman would boss it I reckon. In the absence of video analysis, wikipedia reckons he was stepping outside of leg to manufacture golf and tennis shots into the offsid...

Re: NPL 2024

So they've had about 10 club games, then 11 NPL 50 over games, then 8 T20'S, then 8 four day games, then 8 list A then 8 T20's.
That's good volume.

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team

Terry I've said less people in Zim play cricket, not worldwide. It's fine to get off topic slightly, it's an interesting discussion. Eugene you may well be right, mostly due to us not playing much international cricket and due to poor admin and disastrous selection policies and a poor coaching and p...

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team

People also forget that the population 70 years ago was one third what it is now and on top of that didn't get paid, put in 1/10 the practice, were smaller and significantly weaker and a smaller percentage of that population played sport because they had less free time. Never mind the lack of traini...

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team

Bradman hit six 6's in 53 tests and no 6's in 238 first class games. You'd have to move the boundary rope in about 50m before he could clear the rope. If you stuck him in a time machine and got him to face an over from Brett Lee he'd do worse than Piers Morgan. Maruma has hit 116 first class sixes....

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team

If Bradman is in the equation then minefield uncovered pitches have to be too. Can’t see Travis Head bossing it on one of them with the ball spitting everywhere. I thought Bradman always played it along the floor anyway so he wouldn’t get caught, must have been looking to declare with those six tes...

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team

Our current team would get minced by Flower's team. Bear in mind 230 was a par score back then, but that was a good team. Our best bat in ODI's was probably Goodwin, but there wasn't much in it between him and Flower and Johnson. Goodwin would make our side today at his current age  I don't thi...
