Re: Promising youngsters

The names madhevere Milton shumba dion Myers and younger schandendorff seem to be doing the rounds as potential big things in Zimbabwe cricket in coming years Has anyone seen them play and are they much cop witj the bat? ( or in madhevere case ball too) I saw Dion Myers play once and was very impre...

Re: The greatest season that was: Andy Flower podcast

I was covering Zimbabwe in the 1999 World Cup for Cricinfo, and I must say that they actually underperformed badly. There were a couple of brilliant victories, but also much very mediocre play that drove coach Dave Houghton to distraction. I think the reason is that most of the players seriously lac...

!!

Why does Africa insist on destroying itself. Even South Africa is doing it. The insistence on quotas in sport. No other country in the world does it. Only Africa. The continent with the greatest potential continually insists on shooting itself in the foot. The answer is actually very simple. Look a...

Re: Zimbabwe squad vs Netherlands

As Bliggz pointed out the squad is boring and safe and reeks of 'favours for old friends' the squad needs some new blood, good to see Kamunhukamwe, Burl & Ndlovu there but surely Murray and Mumba for Mutumbami & Chigumbura would have been better?? I feel for Maruma and Regis who have been left out,...

I’d like to see that ZC bill from the Falls. I’d also like to be in charge of the bungee jumping for a couple of days, and they’d be doing it at gunpoint.
Nice offer - I presume no strings attached? :)

Re: Murray Goodwin’s son handed western Australian rookie contract

I’m not sure of the circumstances but Murray left Zim when he was 12-13 to live in Australia, but I don’t recall the others following him. They may have for a short period, but the other brothers certainly were around in their high school years and early working years, I’m guessing they had an Auss...

Re: Murray Goodwin’s son handed western Australian rookie contract

Quiet people can easily be dismissed as snobs. I see it all the time. Moreso with bitches but also blokes too. Hat said I know nothing of Goodwins personality so he could be a cunt and a half. I’m just saying that the human brain misinterprets quiet and shy as snobbery and rudeness often. To the be...

Re: "Zim players you've seen live" XI

If you include Bland then you’ve forgotten a couple of amazing Rhodesian cricketers, the most obvious one being Proctor. I remember watching him at Police grounds as a kid. The crowds basically came to watch him. Yes, I did originally say that I didn't include him because he was more a South Africa...

perspective because he’s observed or been up close and personal with the teams for 50 years, whereas ZCF tends to be limited to the test era, as I sense the average age of regular forumites are thirties and forties and got on the wave during either the golden era or various tours in their native co...

Re: "Zim players you've seen live" XI

Thanks John great insight Can you give us a run down on who Tony Pithey is? There is a brief, accurate biography of him on Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Pithey. He was the ideal opening batsman with his excellent solid defence, but preferred number three. He had a reputation as a ...
