Re: Ireland and Afghanistan Test Watch (2018-2023)

So the gloves are off for the India v Afghan test. Asghar Stanikzai trying to deliver the first verbal blow by labelling his spinners better than India's. Coach Phil Simmons was a little more circumspect acknowledging that all his team are untried at test level. Possibly more. Afghanistan have playe...

Re: Zimbabwe Cricket Stats Quiz

Correct on both accounts. The list being: Oates Kasteni Barrett Mawudzi Ngulube Burgoyne & Byrom (whom I missed) Further to the Oates game, this match was the final of the Logan Cup on 19-21 April,1996. The preliminary rounds were played between September & December 1995. Then Zimbabwe toured NZ & t...

Re: Zimbabwe Cricket Stats Quiz

Probably time for clues to the debut centurions question so we can move on to the next one. The first unidentified centurion, I believe was the first in LC history(remember, since 1993/4). It occurred in one of the most remarkable matches. A father & son played together- I imagine that to be a recor...

Re: Zimbabwe Cricket Stats Quiz

Mawudzi is correct. These are from the Logan Cup. There are 3 left on my list. The first two have finished their careers. Their careers were short & they each played the same number of FIRST Class games. One of these two previously represented Zimbabwe under 19s & had a marvelous strike rate. The th...

Re: Zimbabwe Cricket Stats Quiz

Firstly, Kasteni is the international on this list. Secondly, I was wrong. Byrom would have been on this list. But he is the exception to the others having played other FC matches as noted. Good thing I had my weasel clause about not guaranteeing the list as being complete. And a note to self: check...

Re: Zimbabwe Cricket Stats Quiz

Yes, to clarify, this list is maiden first class hundreds on debut in Logan Cup. But. coincidentally, they all were making their FC debut also.

Re: Zimbabwe Cricket Stats Quiz

Following Ngoni Mupamba's century on debut, it made me research LC records for similar instances. I found 6 other instances although I don't guarantee this list is complete. Of these instance, I guarantee Mupamba's is the highest. Only one of these 6 is an international, albeit very briefly. I could...

Re: Status of National Team Players

Jaybro suggested a thread on those responsible for the state on Zim cricket. I’m sure they’ve been named & shamed throughout this forum, just not collectively. Anyway, I refer to Malcolm Speed’s wiki page which states he was on paid leave the last month of his tenure after a fall out with Ray Mali o...

Re: Captain as a bowler is a blame idea

Yes, IF your VC is not a muppet. I saw England lose their way in in 82/83 ashes when Bob Willis over bowled himself & let the game drift, losing the initiative. I saw Ian Botham lose his way in the 81 Ashes & then the captaincy. That was known as Bothams Ashes. Kapil Dev & Bishen Bedi did not capita...
