The venue for Sunday's one-day international against Zimbabwe is the dodgy wicket at Benoni's Willowmoore Park, where a first-class match between the Titans and the Warriors on October 8 was called off after just seven overs.
The playing surface was ruled unfit by umpires.
No cricket has been played there since.
Attempts to find out the latest state of the pitch were this week met with obstruction and secrecy.
A visit to the ground by a team from The Times to interview groundsman Brandon Frost - or anyone for that matter - proved fruitless.
The Times was told that the groundsman and "the boss" were "very busy" and unable to speak.
Promises of an interview, or even a telephone call, were not kept.
Spectators hoping to watch the Proteas on Sunday will now just have to take a chance that a game of cricket will be played on a wicket that has been wicked, to say the least.
