The best case scenario is ZC is banned and a new board is formed. However if this was going to happen presumably the ICC would have followed through by now.
Wouldnt this just be swapping thieves for crooks?

I think the big challenge the ICC faces is setting a precedent. If they do get rid of the board other players like the West Indians for example will ask for the same. Thats why a suspension is a better option for them.

If this board secures that 30% relief guarantee they will entrench themselves even more from what im seeing. The financial crisis would be over.

exactly what I’m saying. This gives them a lifeline. They will scurry around and get the necessary guarantees. If push comes to shove they will find one of their own entities to guarantee it, or write it off because they own the bank that is definitely not owed the money in the first place, or to keep up the ruse they could pay it from a Panama account.
ICC are fekkin idiots. They’ve all got so much dirt on each other it’s like an Old Boys club that have been shagging Boy Scouts for the last twenty years.
First prize is the Players Union setting a precedent demanding transparency which could give many of these corrupt Boards a wake up.
Let’s see if our government, to which ZC have been joined at the hip does the right thing. It’s unlikely. They just had a ribbon cutting ceremony where a suburb was presented with three dustbins complete with dignitaries, a ululating and ever so grateful crowd of Zanu sycophants so don’t hold your breath.

A write off from the dodgy bank loan would help entrench them, but it would also make a way forward for anyone else who can make progress in the future to make some.

I am expecting scurrying. A well planned, relatively clean & efficient transparent board is not about to happen. That isn't where Zimbabwe is up to and it isn't where the ICC is up to. Burning the house down is one option. I don't think a new one will get built in its place though.

In most contexts incremental change is the best that can be expected.

A loan write off in response to this crisis and some extra budgetary and transparency pressure from the ICC may bring some improvements to how things are run.

Is this thread just based on one article in The Herald?

Given the Herald's reputation for fact-free and fact-twisted reporting, I wouldn't believe anything they wrote unless it was confirmed by another source much more reliable.

Exactly. Scotland getting Test status seems more science fiction than real.

Typical Zim. As soon as someone makes some noise, then people want to sit down and do things 'diplomatically'. They will pillage and steal for decades, and then when under threat, they want to go by the rule of law. Tough.

Why should the social media campaigns stop? If the board cared about anyone, they would have heard the fans ages ago, but they never did, and continue to never do. You only need to look at the way things have been run since the WCQ. The squad for this tri-series is a joke.

There is no time to sit down and have discussions. It's time for serious action. Just look at the rest of the cricketing world and where they are. Then look at where we are. The time for talk is past.

Its do or die now gents. Now lets get one thing clear. Suspension or expulsion will not lead to this fantasy of a new board being formed and thing suddenly getting better with all of our favourite coaches and players coming back. This is a very serious issue. We will NEVER ever recover if we are suspended. Those are the facts. So what we need to do now for everybodys sake is stop all the nonsense going on. Sit down and figure this out.

If you truly love this sport now is the time to stop social media campaigns constantly harrassing anybody to do with the game. Whether its the players, Streak or the board. We are now at the very end of the line unless something is done urgently. If we want to survive this we all need to come together and actually figure out what the hell is going on and find a SOLUTION. We can argue about other things another time. This could be it folks.

Looking back at it turning on India was the biggest mistake we have ever made. England and Australia will sacrifice us anyday.
TapsC you really want us to do a Cameron and "hug a hoodie"?
Really..i think you had one spliff too many before you wrote this.

ICC suspending ZC is perfect and what a lot of us have been working towards day and night. Yes we have to burn the house down because the house is made of snakes!
We know what is necessary to succeed in cricket and many times have detailed this to ZC so they know...but that will mean them using 90% of the ICC money for cricket and not for their whorehouses. So sit down and figure what out???We know and they know what to do but their greed is too strong.

Importantly once the ICC money dries up these cretins have no money to pay their lawyers and will face civil and criminal music so they are shamed and banned from ANY sports administration for life.

As for balancing the loan.....good luck to any organisation that wants to be associated with this tarnished brand called ZC.
Just recently in Byo there is a T20 winter league starting on 1st of July with 90players signed up.....no input by ZC, Singo or Vumi Moyo and none wanted and guess what sponsors falling over themselves to get involved whereas back at Queens HQ not a single sponsor for the last 5years.
ZC brand and ethos is like Mugabe, tired old and bullies and must go.

There is one thing you guys are overlooking. The players. We get suspended BT Raza Jarvis Ervine Cremer Mire are gone. Gone for good. They have potential to play elsewhere. Who the hell is going to play? These players will not stick around. All they want right now is their money.

If they were paid today all the noise would go away. You tell them no more money is coming and they are gone. Most of them are not in this for the greater good. They are just doing their job. This individualistic approach is why the board is still there.

The process of litigation and court cases will take years because they are still the legitimate board as corrupt as they are. They have changed the ZC rules to entrench themselves. We cant run away from that. These guys will fight to the very end using all the tricks in the book. It wont be a walk in the park.

ICC didnt say we are getting rid of the board, they will still be there. So how exactly will that solve our problem when we have no money and no players? I will give you an example. Look at the USA which was suspended by the ICC in 2015 and expelled in 2017. Then they had their election process to fix things this year. Do we have 3 years to waste?and unlike the USA we have tasted the riches which is why people will not stick around.

You also have to wonder why so much noise now? Did this problem start in March? They are owed money from last year but they were quiet. Certain things dont go peoples way and then suddenly the house must be burnt down. None of you guys encouraged a strike when those thieves took the USD and gave them bank transfers because certain people were still in the system. These guys have been abusing people for a decade. The sudden change in energy leaves more questions than answers.

Would people be saying the board must go if we had qualified and the technical team hadnt been fired? Would Taibu be making all this noise if he was given his money for the academy?

The hard truth that people avoid is that everybody in this system has contributed to our demise.
