Re: Your Zimbabwe team after West Indies series
My world beaters:
1. Hamilton Masakadza
2. M Vermulen/D Ebrahim [Needs a stable opening partner]
3. Sean Williams [best bat at 3]
4. Tatenda Taibu
5. Brendan Taylor
6. Charles Coventry [flexible position, at no.3 sometimes]
7. Elton Chigumbura
8. Andy Blignaut/ Forster Mutizwa [imagine the firepower in PP by no.6,7,8]
9. Graeme Cremer [yeah, preferred choice over DOTS]
10. Ray Price
11. Edward Rainsford/A Ireland
Skipper: Either Price or Blignaut if he returns.
12-15: Tawanda Mupariwa, Dougie Marillier, Malcolm Waller, M Goodwin, K Jarvis
Not sure whether Goodwin is willing to come or not but automatic choice in XI if he comes. I would prefer Waller always ahead of Lamb.

Re: Your Zimbabwe team after West Indies series
the bowling has to many spinners , the batting cant last more than 35 overs and our captain cant captian. we need blignaut firing again, more pace, occupy more overs and a new captain.over all a refreshed squad because atm we have hardly any quality international players.here is my team.

2.b.taylor
3.t.taibu (w.k) and v.c
4.c.ervine

8.c.coventry
9.g.cremer
10.r.price (c)
11.a.ireland
12.e.rainsford
13.c.mpofu
with this team u have hitting all down the order with coventry all the way at 8.genuine good bowling attack with the return of seamers blignaut and ireland as well as the spinners ray price and the much promising cremer who looks a future star.a refreshed captain who i think is the man for the job in mr price. this team would certainly put up a much better fight that te wst indian touring one. matsikenyeri must never play again he has never done anything.we need youth to get a real go before we make our test return .with the likes of c.ervine , ireland , cremer , williams and even brennny taylor.

You want someone who was exiled for 5 years to walk into the captaincy role?Dr_Situ(ZimFanatic) wrote:My world beaters:

Re: Your Zimbabwe team after West Indies series
Will Blignaut walk straight into the captaincy? Nope - especially as it seems that his business interests are still taking priority over the cricket.
Is he captain material? Yes, and by most accounts he would have been captain instead of Prosper if he hadn't walked away when he did.
Give it a year - if he comes back full-time and shows what he can do, then it wouldn't surprise me if he got the nod. Not now, though.

Re: Your Zimbabwe team after West Indies series
Price should be captain, i have to be honest it is hard to build a team playing 2 series a year, now with the T20 World cup, our team will shape up, it is time to introduce the experienced players and see if they have anything to offer, bLIGNUAT should stick to playing for now.

Utseya also consults Price for help and I guess he should juss step down and give Pricey a go
Re: Your Zimbabwe team after West Indies series
A Zim team is very difficult to select at the moment because of lack of depth. After the windies tour, only the spin dept seems okay. The batting is the one department that needs to be looked into. I hope the hunt for pace bowling spills into batsmen, with emphasis on trying to lure the many cricketers who decided to play elsewhere due to the insanity of the past years where politics went ahead of sport.
Success is a journey, not a destination

Re: Your Zimbabwe team after West Indies series
Well lets face it, the past 6-8 months have been nothing but good news for Zimbabwean Cricket. Many, many former players have returned and are willing to play for their country, so who's to say that more won't return to the fold. One of the players that i'd like to see back is Campbell Macmillan. He had genuine pace and with the help of Heath Streak he could be an extremly valuable asset to the Zimbabwean national Team.
