Mpofu to miss first half of tri-series

Post by CrimsonAvenger »

Chris Mpofu has injured himself and would not be playing the first couple of matches at least, according to this report: http://www.chronicle.co.zw/inside.aspx? ... 8611&cat=5

Unlucky Chris. Hope he does indeed join up with the squad, but that now opens the window for a certain Ed Rainsford ;)

The last thing a player wants in the current setup is an injury. On the otherhand if you come in for someone who is injured its not a good idea to test the water, but to dive right in and make a huge impression cos places and opportunities seem to be hard to come by. Get one chance make the most of it. That is good for Zimbabwe cricket.

so no mpofu and i assume still no jarvis. with mupariwa out of favour i guess it's down to rainsford and s. masakadza because other than that we have little international experience with any other seamer. obviously there's the new captain and perhaps blignaut for a few overs but i am a bit concerned we're still lacking in the pace department.

Our pace bowling is embarrasingly weak - it really is the main thing that will prevent us from playing test cricket.
