Elton ready to shine for the Steelbacks!
Northants Cricket overseas signing Elton Chigumbura has safely arrived at the County Ground ahead of this week’s FP t20 matches.
The Zimbabwean captain who has been in fine form with the bat in the recent triangular tournament against Sri Lanka and India, will be with the club until the end of the 2010 season.
The 24-year-old said of his arrival, “It’s good to finally be here at the County Ground. I’ve enjoyed meeting everyone here at the club. All the guys are really friendly. I’m feeling comfortable and at home already! Hopefully I will have a good season here now.”
“What I like to do is try and finish games off. I’ve been working hard on my batting and that is paying off”
Within hours of arriving at the County Ground, Elton was out in the middle peppering the pavilion roof with huge sixes. He said, “Yeah that’s my other strength! I like to get out there and hit the ball cleanly and time it just right.”
Northants Cricket Chief Executive Mark Tagg said, “I’m extremely excited to see Elton, a big hitting all-rounder play. I know crowds want to see sixes disappearing out of the ground and Elton is capable of that.”
“I’m sure everyone is looking forward to seeing him play, starting with the game at Grace Road against Leicestershire this Friday, and then on Father’s Day against Derbyshire here at the County Ground.”

Looks like he is hitting sixes already, should work on bowling as well, Ireland + Ervine bowling improving in the county circuit.
