MATABELELAND Tuskers cricket franchise players will lock horns in the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Winter Cricket League that gets under way this weekend. Matabeleland Tuskers assistant area manager Victor Mhlanga said most Tuskers players would use the Winter Cricket League matches as part of their preparations for the new season that starts later this year.
“It is going to be an interesting Twenty20 Cricket League. Remember this is a league for Bulawayo-based clubs and most of the up-and-coming players who failed to make it into the Matabeleland Tuskers team will want to take the opportunity to be considered for franchise cricket. The league is also meant to prepare players for the coming season,” said Mhlanga.
Star-studded defending champions Bulawayo Athletic Club (BAC) will open their season with a date with Crescent on Sunday at Gifford High School. National team fast bowler Christopher Mpofu, former Matabeleland Tuskers captain and national team pace bowler Tawanda Mupariwa, Sean Williams and Charles Coventry are among the top cricketers expected to lead BAC to victory. Crescent will pin their hopes on Bradley Staddon, son of Matabeleland Tuskers chief executive officer Stanley, and Keegan Meth, among other players.
Emakhandeni, who were runners-up last year, will look up to Keith Dabengwa, spin bowler John Nyumbu and Mbekezeli Mabuza, among other players, to lead them as they take on the Gregory Strydom-led Queens.

Queens v Emakhandeni, BAC v Crescent (all matches at Gifford High School)

Good to know that preparations are being made for the season.
Again I'm disappointed that neither Keegan Meth nor Greg Strydom are in the A' side squad.

I would be very surprised if we even get results for most of the matches, never mind scorecards.eugene wrote:Any chance of scorecards for these matches?
Happy for someone to prove me wrong, though...

Bradley Staddon's back - I wonder where he will end up next season?
Interesting to see that they expect Keegan Meth to play. I had presumed that his exclusion from the 'A' tour to Holland & Canada was due to an English Club contract that he had committed to before his return to Zim. If not, I'm surprised by Nathan Wallers inclusion ahead of him. Not that Nather Waller hasn't got huge potential just that Meth's performances at the end of last season were worthy of recognition.

Keegan Meth should deffinetly be in the A' Squad at least. I think it's slightly too early for Nathan Waller in my opinion
