Cricinfo profile of Sean Clingeleffer. I had not heard of him before. He is 30, and is not contracted back home in Aus. Doesn't look like he was anything special though.MUTARE – Mutare-based popular cricket club, The Mountaineers, has appointed Aussie coach, Sean Clingeleffer, in an attempt to boost their chances this season.
The club has also brought in the UK-based trio of Greg Smith, Tony Palladino and Gareth Cross. The move follows former head coach Steve Mangongo's appointment to the national team coaching structures. Mangongo is currently heading the Zim-A technical staff as well as assistant to the senior national team coach. Mountaineers chief executive officer, Phillip Senzani confirmed the development.
”The trio of Smith from Derbyshire, Palladino from Essex and Cross from Lancashire will be expected to play a crucial role in enhancing Mountaineers dominance by virtue of their experiences in the prestigious County league in England.” He added that the three players, who were based in the UK, were very experienced and hoped that they would play a crucial role in enhancing the team’s dominance on the local scene.
He also confirmed the acquisition of Tinashe Panyangara who led the Zimbabwe bowling attack at the height of mass desertion by senior players back in 2004. Panyangara is also expected to bolster an attack that already features upcoming Tendai Chatara and Shingirai Masakadza.
"We have also made an effort to go for the tried and tested. When we also heard of Panyangara's interests in joining the Mountaineers, we thought it is only befitting that he returns to us as he once played for the then provincial side - Manicaland. We believe that his presence will certainly add value to the franchise," Senzani said. The Mountaineers did not renew the contracts of the three players Tatenda Taibu, Njabulo Ncube and Stuart Matsikenyeri.

Re: Sean Clingeleffer to coach Mountaineers
He was the wicketkeeper for tasmania for a few seasons but was never anything overly special...i must say that i was surprised when i heard of the signing compared to donald, hall and gillespie. But im sure that the mountaineers have done their due diligence (at least i hope so after releasing tibby and matsi!!!)CrimsonAvenger wrote:Cricinfo profile of Sean Clingeleffer. Maybe they are looking to unleash the next tim neilson after he came from keeping for south australia then popped up as coach of australia!
Just out of curiosity...does anyone know the minimum coaching level required for the franchises?? I remember seeing it mentioned in the job description for the national job but cant recall for the franchises.

That's old news - The Zimbabwean are a bit behind the times, there. Mountaineers initially announced Clingeleffer as coach back at the beginning of August, before they'd actually completed negotiations with him, and then went on to confirm Allan Donald in the post a few days later.

Re: Sean Clingeleffer to coach Mountaineers
I know that i'm easily confused
But .........
What about Allan Donald then ?
Zim cricket is always a roller coaster sport to follow but i really don't get this one, is Clingeleffer the Head Coach and Donald the bowling coach ? or has Donald been dumped ?
Any information would be gratefully received
