gambling in zim cricket?

Post by ZIMDOGGY »

Lately we have seen a big broo ha-ha about the Pakistanis getting caught in betting scandals and match fixing.

I'm wondering...can this happen in ZIM?

Maybe in the Stanford cup? Zim is a poor nation and i can see how a player could easioly be tempted if theres alot of betting on the game.

What do you think?

In fact....

I even wrote a script about how this would go down...since everyones talking about Tinashe Panyangara alot...i thought i would use him as the character that the shady Zimbabwean official will try and bribe:

FADE TO BLACK

Against black, TITLE CARD:

"Tinashe Panyangara and the shady Zimbabwean official"

FADE IN:

9. MEDIUM SHOT - Tinashe Panyangara 9.
We FADE UP on Tinashe, a tall, 256-year-old
prizebowler. Tinashe sits at a table wearing a red and blue
high school athletic jacket. Talking to him OFF SCREEN is
an unknown Zimbabwean official. The man sounds like
a cross between a gangster and a king.

shady official(OS)
I think you're gonna find -- when
all this shit is over and done -- I
think you're gonna find yourself
one smilin' mo'fo. Thing is
Tinashe, right now you got ability.
But painful as it may be, ability
don't last. Now that's a hard
mothereffin' fact of life, but
it's a fact of life your ass is
gonna hafta get realistic about.
This business is filled to the brim
with unrealistic mothereffers who
thought their ass aged like wine.
Besides, even if you went all the
way, what would you be? Stanford20/20 champion? Who
cares? I doubt you can even
get a credit card based on that.

**A hand lays an envelope full of money on the table in front of
Tinashe. Tinashe looks at it.

Shady official: (OS)
Now the day of the game, you may
feel a slight sting, that's pride
effin' wit ya. screw pride! Pride
only hurts, it never helps. Fight
through that shit. 'Cause a year
from now, when you're kickin' it in
Mavingo with Gus Mackay and his ladies, you gonna say i was right."

Tinashe:
I got a problem with that.

Shady official: (OS)
In the fifth over, your bowlin' a no ball.

Tinashe stares blankly*
Shady official :(OS)
Say it!

Tinashe
In the fifth, .................

To be continued.

Well, hopefully not.

Probably the most disturbing thing is whether Zimbabwe has won matches because the other team has underperformed? My gut feeling is that this is not the case, but with this Pakistan business coming to light who knows how deep it runs.

Why would a 256 year old Panyangara be wearing a high school athletics jacket?

Zimbabwe did lose to Pakistan in a T20 warmup.

Hmmmm

Panyangara isnt 256 years old yet. Chances are he will die before then.

In the story he is wearing the jacket becaus he is trying to emulate the american 'Jock' movies and Michael Jackson from the 'Thriller' video.

Thats just how he rolls, it is his style.
