22 September-5 years passed today

Post by jamthala »

2005
Zimbabwe's last Test before they voluntarily withdrew from the format was memorable only because they broke their run of innings defeats. They lost by 10 wickets instead. Irfan Pathan, the Indian left-arm swing bowler, took a career-best 12 for 126 and India won inside three days. It was the last time Heath Streak played for Zimbabwe.

Hmmm seems like yesterday dont it. Lets hope that if we are given the chance again we shall be up there with better performances.

I still remember Terry Duffin's 50 on debut in the first test against India. He seemed like such a promising test player back then.

He still could be.
He has a solid technique and can hit the ball hard. I'd have him as a first choice reserve for opening the batting when we do eventually do return to test match cricket.
I never had the pleasure of whatching him on his debut, but of what i've heard, he batted very well :D

My hope is a for a fruitfull and super 5 years to come .
This is what I dream it will sound like

1. Zim crush Bangladesh by innings and win the Castle Laager Test Series 3-0
2. ZIm beat West Indies by 20 runs to clinch the series 2-1
3.Zim dismiss Pakistan to win the series 2-1
4. Zim shock Australia to comeback and draw the series 1-1
5.Zim demolish England to take the series 2-0
6.Zim despatch South Africa to make it 3-2 in the Limpopo derby.
7. Sri Lanka rcover from 2 straight defeats to level the series at 2-2

Guys all these figures mayy seem like a dream but in five years time we will be referring to this post and saying Flower Power who told you so , and how did you know .
Lol

I like your optamism mate, but seriosuly, half those results may take a lot longer to achieve than 5 years. For all we know the door may be shut for playing in England and Australia again. We just don't know. In terms of "dispatching" the South Africans, hmmmm ya that's a possibility in 5 years time, and like wise with Pakistan. I see no serious talent coming through there (Aside from Umar Akmal and Ammir, who may never play for Pakistan again). Sosome fair predictions there Flower Power :D
