Liam Brickhill has produced a wonderful interview with Andy Flower, the greatest Zimbabwean cricketer of all time. Well worth the watch.

Re: Andy Flower interview
Yeah, great interview. He felt a bit of gut wrenching as he mentioned visiting Streak I thought. A painful pause before he wished him well.
Great interview with feeling good about Takashinga's progress, memories of the past, etc.

Re: Andy Flower interview
Interesting that he credits his father with the Takashinga initiative.
Re: Andy Flower interview
I'm pretty sure his father was a big factor in the club.
When he got emotional talking about Streaky, that hit in the feels. Hopefully he can come back in some capacity and play a role in the development.

Re: Andy Flower interview
Is there any update on Streak? Flower seemed super cut up about his condition in that interview, which was really sad. He had to fight back the emotion for a moment. That tells me it isn't looking goo, ready between the lines of course
Re: Andy Flower interview
If Andy says he is positive about the future of Zimbabwe cricket then surely there is reason to keep faith.
Yeah, on Streak, obviously thoughts and prayers with him. We all hope he recovers well and soon. Absolute legend of the game, love Heath Streak. Wish him a speedy recovery.

Re: Andy Flower interview
This Tristan Holme article addressed Bill Flower's influential role in getting Takashinga up and running there: https://www.thecricketmonthly.com/story ... -of-dreams
Takashinga was promoted to the national first division in the 1999-2000 season, but there was a more important project on the go: making a home in Highfield. Along with his father Bill, Andy Flower became involved in that vision too. The site they were looking at was previously known as the Zimbabwe Grounds, a large open field with a place in history - it was where Mugabe delivered his first post-independence speech to a record crowd.
Re: Andy Flower interview
John Ward exchanged emails with Streak the other day and said Heath replied himself. Apparently he is responding to treatment he is receiving in South Africa.

Re: Andy Flower interview
After watching the Andy Flower interview, though, in which he said nothing about any improvement, it made me wonder and worry whether Heath is perhaps just trying to show a bit of bravado and if his situation is really worse than he wants to admit. It sounds like he has returned from South Africa, anyway.
Re: Andy Flower interview
This could of course be true. It is up to Heath how he wants to publicly manage his illness.jw2 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 10, 2023 9:25 pmAfter watching the Andy Flower interview, though, in which he said nothing about any improvement, it made me wonder and worry whether Heath is perhaps just trying to show a bit of bravado and if his situation is really worse than he wants to admit.
