I'm told Hampshire are not yet confirming this: press officers at the club have "spoken to all parties in the Caribbean and no decision yet made." Link 1, Link 2.

At this point, I'm not believing anything until I see him step onto a field in a Zimbabwe shirt.

 Legend
In terms of Ervine returning, it's possibly the best news we've heard since the new administration was put in place. But i, like Maehara, still want an official confirmation from him, wether be a radio, or a press release.
Exciting, very exciting times ahead !

Canada vs Hampshire live tonight on ESPN (Eurosport in Europe I think), there's a chance it could be revealed then particularly if the commentators / boundary riders are alert to the situation.

I'm inclined to believe this is a "where there's smoke there's fire" type thing. While I agree that there will always be an element of doubt until he steps on to the field in the Zimbabwe colours, I don't think BBC would have gone ahead with the story unless they were confident he was leaving Hampshire. Cricinfo sure, but not BBC.

No mention of Ervine leaving Hampshire during the game. Not a bad game actually, I didn't expect Canada to win.

Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove plans to hold clear-the-air talks with Sean Ervine after tonight’s Caribbean T20 win against Canada.

The all-rounder revealed his intention to leave Hampshire as the county prepared for their first Caribbean T20 match at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

But he is under contract until the end of next season and had not spoken to Bransgrove about his plans before tonight's game against the Canadians.

Bransgrove said: “I haven’t spoken to 'Slug' and didn’t want to before the game - but I will be afterwards.

“I need to get to the bottom of this and find some answers. I don’t believe anything I’ve heard until I’ve spoken directly to Slug.” Ervine told media in Antigua of his decision to end his Hampshire career so he can play for Zimbabwe at next month’s World Cup.

“International cricket is my ultimate goal,” he said. “It’s tough to leave Hampshire, which I hold as family. They’ve looked after me and I give them every praise possible."

Ervine has played for Hampshire as a non-overseas player for the last six years but cannot continue to do so if he resumes his Zimbabwe career.
