My first match was on TV (it would me many years before I saw a match live)South Africa playing Zim in a test series. So that would be '96. Saw Dave Richardson break record after record behind the stumps; but so did Heath Streak -- took 6-90.

So was badly heartbroken when I missed the England series the next December. Mother sent me to the rural areas over the school holidays:( :(

@Maehara startling result that, by Ireland. I was never aware a match like that took place

My first match was in 92 World cup, Zimbabwe vs India ,when I was 6 years old. Being in India, I had to get up early in the morning to watch the match. But, please dont doubt,I didnt get up that early because I was a Zimbabwe fan. My brother is a die hard Indian Cricket team fan and hence, I too sat with him to watch the match.

But, unfortunately, the match was delayed due to rain :x . We waited and finally, a scroll message came that the match will start in a short while. When the telecast started, I was very attracted by the RED colour on the jerseys of the bowling side. And in the first over itself, a Zim fielder skid and fell while trying to field due to wet outfield.

And again, during Zimbabwe batting, Andy Flower and Ali Shah batted despite the rain and completed the min 20 overs quota thereby awarding full points to India. I was again really impressed by this :D .

From that day, I support Zimbabwe cricket team to the fullest.
