Zimbabwe had invited Ireland to tour at the end of the year - one unofficial test and 3 ODIs. That invitation has now been withdrawn, citing fixture congestion, despite December being nice and free at the moment.
Timing seems rather suspicious. One would think Ireland were being punished for being too vocal about the Full Member Trophy (formerly the World Cup) issue...

Zimbabwe Withdraw Tour Invitation to Ireland
Re: Zimbabwe Withdraw Tour Invitation to Ireland
Zimbabwe are probably trying their best to avoid Ireland opening a can of 'Kevin O'Brien' on their ass.

Silly decision, in my mind -- and utterly uncharitable. We need the matches just as badly
Re: Zimbabwe Withdraw Tour Invitation to Ireland
It's either out of guilt at what we did to them.
or they are trying to avoid an embarrassing situation about who deserves that tenth place
because if they lose to Ireland ..... People are going to whisper louder and louder

Oh come on Zimbabwe! What are you afraid of, They wer quite happy to pack the schedule between July aand Oct why not add one more series and sly the wannabees in their own background and settle the dispute for some time to come! I Thought ZC would continue to play more with IRE the same way we did with Bang and help EACH other out!

Guys I think we are loosing the point . If we abandon our domestic league then who will be feeding into the test team . January 2012 is still a good spot . Its not too far
I bet Ireland are more of a knockout team . On a tour game they would not stand a chance . O' Brien cant be hitting all year round if that is what is feared .

I admit I've changed my mind, after my initial reaction. Looking at that schedule, I'd have to agree there isn't any space and the Bvute makes an excellent point about the domestic league leveraging the exposure from the televised international matches.
