Another very poor 6 hitter is Wes. He might actually have to be the guy who plays anchor in the future. Just to put it into perspective Bennet has hit 10 sixes in 11 games. Wes has only managed 14 sixes in 60 games. I used to think it was just an age thing but Bennett has proven that to be false. Maybe it’s a height thing. Bennet looks a bit taller.

Wes couldn’t even anchor a boat in shallow water, never mind an innings

That's the issue- Wes has had way more than his fair share of opportunity, but you need the right prep. Either he isn't good enough or the coaching and environment is wrong for him.
Maybe it's a bit of everything? He had the goods early on, I don't think many doubt that. It's the million Zig question, where do we go wrong?
A lot of top batters, especially early on, have a go-to or fall-back guy to work on technique and other processes who isn't the national coach/batting coach, especially if they hit a rough patch. Most of our guys lack that. They're trying to figure stuff out on their own more often than not.

I read a good piece about AB going back to a coach and the guy giving him underarm for a few days and it fixed him. That's a bit simplistic for what our issues are, but the principle is the same. Our batters seem to lack the personal touch. Trying to impress in a national team practice is big pressure for guys on the periphery and not necessarily the place to iron problems out. Especially if the coach is playing musical chairs. In fact a lot of coaches will drop a guy if he has a shit session just before a game and another batter is seeing it well. A net becomes a trial. Its tough out there!

Six hitting or fearless hitting is why I want to see more of guys like Musikewa get a chance and the likes of Ryan Burl to always be there in the team, Burl is a clean striker. They can also invest in guys like K-Long or Jongwe, as in give them proper modern day coaching and they might do well. Jongwe actually has the T20 game, it's just that he doesn't come off often. Can be groomed in my view.

I think PJ Moor literally wasted his career by moving to Ireland, he could have got a role in the LOI sides in Zimbabwe, esp after Chakabva had left.

Will these results (Bang vs USA) affect the 20/20 rankings much at all?
