To be fair, he is not getting in the national side at the moment with Cremer coming back. So a year in a different country may be the best thing for his development
If it is a year...
It definitely isn't good for the pro game locally.

I think his started well. 3 wickets in each innings his played. I’m unsure on the standard.
I see he was trashed on X. Cremer and Masekesa ahead of him so if he wants to throw in the towel that's his choice!
I dont think Shumba is here either?
When whites strive for a better life theyre unpatriotic, when black guys do it they're either proactive or they've given up.
Mavuta would be lucky to be one of 4 in the squad clearing $800. Lets do a small cost of living calculation, and I'm talking about the most rock bottom costs, which tragically most of our cricketers have to deal with. Dont laugh, this is what 80% of our professional cricketers have to try and live off.
Rent - 50 (single room)
Phone- 30
Public Transport- 100 (4 a day)
Food- 150 (5 a day)
Clothing- 20
Cricket equip- 30 (doesnt buy you anything!)
Entertainment- 120 (4 a day- beer, marijuana and one hooker, short time!)
Medical- 30 (pills - nobody affords medical aid)
Debt repayment- 50 (everybody owes someone)
I mean these are just hypotheticals, but its in the ballpark.
Ive seen pro cricketers scoop left over free lunch at cricket into plastic bags so they can have a meal that night.
Bear in mind there is over 90% unemployment and the minimum wage is about $150
Forget about wives, children and dependants, proper medical aid, car costs, insurance, school fees, massive cost of raising children, the odd birthday or Xmas present, a holiday etc etc etc etc
Someone needs to do a study to understand how people survive. Zimbabweans would go onto that Naked and Afraid series and colonize the place.
The situation here is beyond dire. When a well paid guy mouths off on X whilst professional cricketers cannot sustain themselves, let alone a small family its beyond disgusting.
If you are fortunate enuf to get onto the bottom tier of a Central contract of 1400 its still not remotely do-able to live properly.
Let me tell you that if 90% of our "pro's" were offered what Mavuta and Shumba are getting (and it wont be much), cricket would end here.
