“It’s sad that we are losing talent,” Houghton told the Daily News. “He (Ballance) is an outstanding player but we can’t really get him to play here against his will.
“He needs to play where he feels that his future is guaranteed and maybe we need to work towards stabilising our game and as a country in general and see how far that would take us. He’s still a young player, has made a choice but nobody knows what happens in three years’ time.”
“I am currently playing in England and still have a contract there, so I will see how it goes over the next three years and you never know what happens, I don’t want to rule out anything at the moment,” Ballance said.
“Obviously playing for England will be very tough but I will do my best to try and achieve that.”
“He is obviously a quality player and I know he’s committed with Yorkshire in England,” Taylor has previously told the Daily News.
“Fortunately, he is still a young kid and if an opportunity presents itself, I am sure he will be very anxious to do that because there’s nothing better than playing Test cricket for your country.”
and here is the interesting bit:
Ballance said he has not yet been approached by local authorities over a possible Zimbabwe call-up
the lad might do well in England... if he doesn't; he loses form, self-confidence and a feeling of worth maybe he'll approach us (after SE's dropping after two BPL games - i think 2012 may see his return )

And that sums up it all up for me, exactly what are they expecting that Taylor/Houghton/Vusi/ and other peeps approach him on behalf of ZC and when they di their usual shenanigans they will say duuude we didnt come to you, you came to us! fry your own beef!
If Zimbabwe were winning we would be a more attractive option.

Yeah, but if he hasnt been approached, he hasnt really got many options. ZC are saying we are happy with our current crop of under performing inconsistent bunch of players and we wont approach or at least give the option to others.
We need to speak to players even if they are not in the national team. Its all about building that faith and trust with the player and showing to him that you care about his future and what him for the long term.
Watched him in action just last week. He's a batsman of unquestionable supremacy but we can't quite say the same about the magnitude of his patriotism.
