Re: [Tour Thread] Bangladesh v Zimbabwe - Warm-Up Matches
So no Vermuelen or Chigumbura can anyone tell me what Vermulens injury is?

Tigers name ODI squad
Shakib retains captaincy

Sports ReporterThere were no big surprises when the Rafiqul Alam led selection panel announced the Bangladesh team for the first three ODIs of the five-match one-day series at home against Zimbabwe that starts on October 27.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) named a 14-member squad, which will continue to be led by all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. The left-hander stays at the Tigers' helm as Mashrafe bin Mortaza is yet to return to training; his comeback from knee surgery slated for the middle of next month.
“Mashrafe is definitely not playing against Zimbabwe," Rafiqul told reporters at a press conference at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.
There were only two changes from the team that toured Zimbabwe in August as paceman Shahadat Hossain and left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak came into the side. The four dropped from the previous touring party are Imrul Kayes, Mehrab Hossain, Syed Rasel and Mahbubul Alam.
While Rasel and Robin continue their recuperation from injury, the others have been left out to streamline the squad, which features a surprise look with four frontline seamers and only two specialist spinners in Razzak and Enamul Haque.
“All the matches are day-night and if you factor in the dew, the conditions are going to be quite challenging for the spinners. Thus we decided to go with four frontline seamers,” explained Rafiqul.
Shahadat comes into the side to form a formidable looking pace line-up alongside Dollar Mahmud, Nazmul Hossain and slinger Rubel Hossain who returns from injury.
”Shahadat had been dropped after the West Indies tour due to a lack of form.
However he has performed well in the latter part of the Bangladesh A team's tour to Maharashtra,” said Rafiqul explaining the inclusion of the tall paceman.
Rafiqul however left room open for incorporating more players into the side for the final two matches of the ODI series.
“Since we are playing the series at home, we can make changes as and when requi-red, “ he said explaining that the youngster Suhrawardi Shuvo was in the reckoning.
As pre-determined, no ICL players were considered for selection despite Alok Kapali and Shahriar Nafees putting up standout performances during the recently concluded Big Boss Twenty20 Premier League.
“The cooling-off period is still in place for the ICL players, as per the board's directive. Therefore none of the players were available for selection,” explained Rafiqul.
Wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim comes in as vice-captain in a squad that features eight specialist batsmen, two spinners and four pacers.
The Tigers have hit a recent purple patch as they comprehensively beat Zimbabwe 4-1 in the ODIs in August and before that, swept the ODIs 3-0 against an understrength West Indies.
SQUAD
Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Mushfiqur Rahim (vice captain/wicketkeeper), Tamim Iqbal, Zunaed Siddique, Mohammad Ashraful, Rokibul Hasan, Mahmudullah Riyad, Nayeem Islam, Enamul Haque Jr, Rubel Hossain, Dollar Mahmud, Shahadat Hossain, Abdur Razzak and Nazmul Hossan

From the look of it, it seemed like a groin injury. He tried to run it off but he needed a runner for the rest of his innings. I'm sure its nothing serious he is just being rested perhaps otherwise they wouldnt have taken him on the tour. I really hope nothing is wrong with Chigumbura. His a great asset to the Zimbabwean game and we need him both with the ball and bat.zimfan1 wrote:So no Vermuelen or Chigumbura can anyone tell me what Vermulens injury is?
Any update on the game cant really find anything?

BCB XI won by six wickets
But hopefully the boys will just be getting rid of all the rust and come back strongly for the second practise match on sunday. Remember what happend when Zimbabwe A played Bangladesh and what impact that had on the series..... it had zero impact

Notable performance from Taibu and Chibhabha. Chibhabha truly blows hot and cold at the some time. I hope he could put in more consistant performances. If he get a good game in the second warm he most definately deserves a place in the starting 11 in the first ODI.

Not a good result but a few good things can out of the match, the majority of the batsman got some time at the crease and Taibu got some time at the crease. Looks like there are quit a few selection issues with Chibabha playing himself into contention but can we really select him in the first ODI on the basis of his performances in practise matches. Looks like Taibu is a definate as he kept today as well which indictes he will be in the starting line up. I imagine Vermulen and Chigumbura will get a go in the game on sunday with possibly Mpofu but Jarvis did ok. I wonder if the "think tank" are tempted to drop a spinner to get Chibabha in the side, his style of bowling is better suited to the slow and low Bangladesh pitches that the flat track Queens.
Looks like the battle for the batting will be three out of Vermulen, Mutizwa, Matsikenyeri, Coventry, Chibabha and Waller

4. Taylor
5. Taibu
