Is it an april 1st news? That was my first reaction. The above mentioned article was not missed only it was not given weightage 'coz of so many errors. It now seems that the real news in it was at the bottom which was not given consideration coz of naivety of author.
If its true, it has to, then we r seriously lined up for test ckt. Goodwin and Ervine at 3 and 5 will be huge bonus in tests. I agree we desperatly need a fast bowler and then we are finally ready.
Kyle fasten your boots.

Re: Sean Ervine returns to Zimbabwe along Goodwin and Mariller
You know what, ever since i joined this forum i've been dreaming of seeing such a thread. It's absolutly fantastic news !!!!
It really is. I've not stopped smiling since i've seen the news. Murray goodwin is without doupt a world class batsmen, Sean Ervine a world class batting allrounder, and big Douge is an extremly talented player (With both bat and ball !!). In my mind the most disapointing exclusion is that of Graeme Cremer. He's really been a top performer of Zimbabwe in the past 12months. And where Keegan Meth ??!! What more does this man have to do to get into the Zimbabwe squad. I'm pleased to see that Muruma and Lamb are in the provincial squad, but why Greg Strydom ?? Surely Ervine is a better option. But i don't want to dampen the the atmosphere, it's fantastic news from a Zimbabwean point of view. I know there's been some fantastic news in the past 6-8 months, (the return of Heath Streak, Grant Flower and Alistair Campbell. Kyle Jarvis being the first guy to bowl 90mph for Zimbabwe since the likes of Olonga and Blignuaugt and the return of former players), but this is just something else. I think i speak for most memebers on this forum when i say that the provincial squad is without doupt the strongest squad Zimbabwe have had since the 2004
All we need now is Anthony Ireland to come back and partner up with fellow paceman Kyle Jarvis. Then Zimbabwe Cricket will be able to return to test cricket, and rightfully regain there respect at Test mach Arena.

Re: Sean Ervine returns to Zimbabwe along Goodwin and Mariller
Good morning/afternoon/evening all
Well then, what can i say
I have very little confidence in the truth of this report, sadly far too many Zim press reports turn out to be totally inaccurate in all ways, on many occasions the reports are even unable to correctly name players let alone give out facts.
If this were to be true then it would be absolutely wonderful news for Zim cricket and all of us who follow the fortunes of it, i've been lucky enough to see Murray in action on a number of occasions and the man is simply on a different planet to most batsmen, i've also seen the influence he's had on the younger Sussex batsmen with their batting stances and shot selection, i have no doubt that, should he return to Zim cricket, he would bring nothing but positive results.
It is actually possible that playing for Zim could assist Sussex, i'm rather at sea with all these kolpak rules but, as i understand it, he may not be eligible to play as a kolpak in 2011, Sussex would, if that's true, have to use their one overseas slot to keep him or wave goodbye to one of the worlds best batsmen, it's possible that by playing ODI cricket he MAY, i repeat MAY, then be able to retain his kolpak status, i've put the question on our messageboard and am hoping that someone may have more of a grasp of the kolpak rules.
I'll pass on any info that i can get

I'll believe it when those guys actually step on the plane. Until then, consider this as rumour only...
Re: Sean Ervine returns to Zimbabwe along Goodwin and Mariller
My concern is that this is the same newspaper that said that Lance Mulloch-Brown, Trevor Gripper and Campbell Macmillion were coming out of retirement in October of last year. Ive emailed cricinfo and asked them to do some digging.
Im looking into the Sean Ervine situation and he has a contract up until September 2010 with Hampshire so ive this is true i will be amazed that he would walk away from one of the strongest county teams epically with the advent of the the T20 Champions league.
But as Train Driver pointed out may this be a trick by Goodwin and Ervine to come out of retirment for a year then retire again so that they can sign new Kolpak contracts, as the rules now state that they have had to of played international cricket at a maximum of 4 years ago which both Ervine and Goodwin have now passed.
I guess the best clue will be to see if any of these three turn out in the domestic T20 starting in two weeks time.

Re: Sean Ervine returns to Zimbabwe along Goodwin and Mariller
If i had my way, the 1st ODI would look something like this:
1. Hamilton Mazakadza.
2. Brendon Taylor.
3. Murray Doodwin.
4. Tatenda Taibu.
5. Sean Ervine.
6. Greg Lamb.
7. Dougie Marriliar.
8. Elton Chigumbura.
9. Gavin Ewing.
10. Raymond Price. (captian)
11. Kyle Jarvis.
12th man: Vusi Sibanda/Sean Williams/Charles Coventry.
I think Zimbabwe should stick with two spinners: (Ewing and Price) and three pace bolwers in Kyle Jarvis, Sean Ervine and Elton Chigumbura.

Re: Sean Ervine returns to Zimbabwe along Goodwin and Mariller
I've been chatting to a few chaps on facebook who actually know Sean Ervine. He's told them that he's comitting to Zimbabwe Cricket, and wants to help rebuild the nation. This is what i've been told. I've heard nothing about Murray Goodwin or Dougie Marrilliar. I just have a really good feeking about thi one, i really do.

Wow this is a decent source if you have been talking to people who know Seansloandog wrote:I've been chatting to a few chaps on facebook who actually know Sean Ervine. Re: Sean Ervine returns to Zimbabwe along Goodwin and Mariller
Yeah i totally agree with the point you've raised on Goodwin. But still, if he does play for two years(or even one) the man could have a real posative effect on the Zimbabwean Side. If Sean Ervine does indeed return, then it'll be the best of the best news that we've recieved.
