At the moment, you know all I do. But given that there seems to have been a rush to get this finalised, I'd expect this to be the team that takes charge for the WI tour,zimfan1 wrote:Will they start in the T20 world cup or straight away for the West Indies tour?

Good runs with Takashinga, Easterns / Mountaineers, and Zimbabwe A / Zimbabwe XI. I think with the form his sides have been showing, it was inevitable that he'd get a look in...aydee wrote:Don't know much about Mangondo, but he can't have been doing a bad job at the Mountaineers, and will therefore presumably have a good working relationship with many of the national team regulars.

.. at the same time retaining some ethnic mix in the balance. You don't want another rebel authority advocating a quota system in the establishment again...maehara wrote:Good runs with Takashinga, Easterns / Mountaineers, and Zimbabwe A / Zimbabwe XI. There's that, too - although I think he's got the credentials as well. Also shows that Chawaguta's been well-and-truly sidelined.Conant wrote:.. at the same time retaining some ethnic mix in the balance. You don't want another rebel authority advocating a quota system in the establishment again...

I think i agree with maehera here. The man has done a very good job with all the teams he has worked with.Lets not forget he is the man who brought us most of these young black players. He dersrves to be in the mix and like all these he is there on merit .Well done to Zim cricket. We are moving forward towards test cricket for sure.maehara wrote:There's that, too - although I think he's got the credentials as well. Zimbabwe news
Alan Butcher appointed Zimbabwe coach
Cricinfo staff
Alan Butcher, the former England batsman and father of England international Mark Butcher, has been appointed Zimbabwe coach, Zimbabwe Cricketconfirmed today. Butcher takes over from Walter Chawaguta, who held the post from August 2008.
Butcher, 56, will be assisted by Zimbabwean coaching assistant Stephen Mangongo, batting coach Grant Flower and bowling coach Heath Streak. His first assignment will be the tour of West Indies starting next month.
Butcher played one Test and an ODI for his country between 1979 and 1980. A left-handed opener, like his son, Butcher represented Surrey and Glamorgan before retiring in 1992. He took on coaching roles with Essex and Surrey before making a surprise comeback for Surrey at the age of 44. He coached the county again in 2006 but was sacked after Surrey was relegated without a win in 2008. His two brothers, Martin and Ian, and other son Gary all played first-class cricket.
