nah sloan you are wrong i saw aliseni bowl in the logan cup and i was sitting behind davey houghton..he was so impressed by his pace..they reckon he was consistently above 145kph against rocks..he bowled faster against rhinos but picked up an injury while fielding..i saw him bowl all his games..it felt lyk he was going to take a wicket with every ball..all batsman struggled with his pace(wessels, friday, vusi, maregwede, tikolo etc).he is rapid..definitely a 150kph bowler..problem for ZC is he is committed to his studies because he has no confidence in e system yet most probably(my thinking)..i heard he made it clear he is not coming back till he is done with his studies..definitely more rapid than Jarvis, tiripano,S masakadza/chigumbura(4 fastest bowlers in zim at e moment in that order)
I understand the obsession with pace, given that we don't have much at the moment. But i get the feeling we need more than thatwhat about a genuine swing bowler, Like Chaminda Vass, his first 2 overs of IPL were mesmerizing. He was only bowling at 125-130 at the quickest but he was unplayable. I think that outright speed is nice but not many teams have that. We need controlled bowlers who can bowl within themselves and not give away that bad ball. I would mention Mcgrath as someone to emulate but he is special. Controlled line and using the pitch and seam with variation of pace to make the batsman play a shot he didn't want to. Gary Brent, he wasn't fast but people had a hard time getting him away.
