My prayers have been answered!!! Finally!!! I think that this is a very good initiative and I hope that this will help solve the apparent problem - we have no genuine swing or pace bolwers, I'm sure those of you who follow this forum will notice that this has always been amongst the top of my agendas. If we are going to make a return to test cricket - fast/swing bolwers are a MUST have!

Thank you for seeing the light ZC...

Don't - I've been homesick enough myself lately. :(

It's all Google Earth's fault - they have Harare fully in hi-res now, I've been busy tracing all my old haunts...

Yes Eugene it's the first time i'm going back to my country of birth. I'm really looking forward to it, i'll be sure to take a few photos don't you worry ;)
In regards to going back and giving cricket in Zimbabwe a go, i don't think i'm really quick enough to be accepted. The fastest i've ever bowled is 83mph, and that was really pushing it. I mean i'm only 18 so i've got plenty of time, but i'm certainly assessing my options carefully. Would love to play domestically back home though, would be a dream come true !! :D

If I was a single guy, I would probably have gone back already - I really do miss the place. Wife & kids here that I have to consider, though.

Ofcourse family comes first. Well i'll certainly take some photos, and get some autographs. My friend who i'm going with knows Heath Streak, so i'll hopefully have a chat with the bloke :D Perhaps when your children are older Maehara, you could take your wife and yourself ?? :)

Took her out in 2003, to Vic Falls and Harare - wonderful trip. But I think she'd miss too many UK home comforts out there. :(

Wow i never new that, i can see my old primary school in all its glory :D

The problem is that in Zimbabwe there is very little prospects at the moment, especially with the government passing legislation about foreign owned business having the be partly state owned.

If the elections next year bring a change in government (even though i fear civil war) then i would defiantly consider returning but with no money being invested into the country, what kind of future can one have?

Think I may have to split this off into a "homesick Zimbos" thread... :D

There are how many Zimbabweans living outside the country at the moment - 4-5 million, by most counts? And the ones that have left are the ones with the skills and knowledge to really make the place tick. They / we need to go back, once normality returns, and start businesses, build projects, and bring money back into the country to get it all working again the way it should be.

It'll be up to whoever ends up in power after the next elections to persuade all those in 'exile' to come home, though, and in a lot of cases that isn't going to be easy.
