I think changes to the fixtures are mainly attributable to the Zimbabwe Cricket International calendar were matches are confirmed and dropped on an ad hoc basis . eg We expected to play Scotland at home and probably the final of the ICC in Dubai .Another factor affecting issues is renovations at grounds .Otherwise we are going to expect a stable fixture when we resume our future tours programmme

Why do i constantly see members from this forum sign up and constantly make a meal out of these players names?

Ive seen just about every zimbos name butchered like this.

i find it kind of insulting that you woldnt even bother to find out their names....you would just assume its "camble". Which isnt a name, at least of anglo/celtic origin like CAMPBELL would be.

If i dont know how to say a name, i'd at least make an effort to take 2 seconds on google. Not that i've ever needed to as i have enough intelligence to know how 'flower' is spelt without needing to verify it.

Sorry for my rant.

Good one zimdoggy. I understand people not being fluent in written english, but not knowing how to spell players names is rather bad. Particularly fairly simple ones like Flower and Campbell.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

for me its not a language issue at all. Mainly because names transcend any language.

If it were the reverse and we were talking about Indian players, i personally wouldnt have issues with running of names like Tendulkar and Kumble, but if i did i'd google it, or make a miniscule mistake most wont notice.

But the stuff i see here and on Cricinfo (where the names are actually mentioned in the article they're responding too) i actually find disrespectful.

Poor Sean and Craig Ervine seem to cop this alot.

I might write a letter to the indian embassy about this....let them know its not on ; )

Final of the three-day competition began today - Rocks v Mountaineers in Masvingo (which implies that Rocks finished top).

Day one close: Rocks 238/4 (90 overs; Maregwede 70*, Querl 2/39), Mountaineers yet to bat.

This was live on cricinfo! Some serious strides have been made in that regard in the last year, no one can deny that...

I was very surprised to see it on Cricinfo, that's for sure. Although given that we're still missing scorecards for most of the 'B' matches this season, they've still got some way to go on those communication issues.

Also, backward step: we used to get half-decent coverage of the club National League and provincial leagues (for Harare and Bulawayo, anyway) - never hear anything about them now...

True, although I would imagine that the standard, and importance of club cricket has dropped off big time since the introduction of the franchises.
