Streak opening the bowling - now there's an idea. I am sure he would do better than the clowns we currently have doing the job.

Colin Bland is still playing too.

No Grant Flower for me thank you and I still TOTALLY HATE the Player coach scenario. Thats just selfish, and I think he is just a wannabe now and I hope he plays so well so that I eat humble pie!

Its also selfish on your part to give that place to novice teenager so that he gets hammered in the first ever international and goes to isolation.

It would be my preference to see someone who is going to be in the mix longer term playing. Grant has had a great career and im not doubting the knowledge and experience that he brings to the team but I feel there are probably a couple of other players that could play just as well in matches of this format.

Giving some of the players that havent had that much exposure to the bigger games, I feel blooding them now would be of benefit.

I'm not too critical of his performances in the first couple of matches though given his time out of international cricket but do feel that as our structural and coaching cricket changes, both domestically and internationally have for the most been about moving to the future and I cannot help but think having grant playing is not in keeping with this trend.

To me it sounds similar to when there was speculation that australia would recall shane warne after his retirement for the ashes. Nothing ever came of it and australia lost but still :D

We have a world cup coming up in 4 months!!!

Thats what we should be...and the rest of the nations....are focusing on right nmow.

None of this developmental crap.....now is not the time nor the place.

Thats a simple logic but one thats true. If grant doesnt play well he wont be there. After the world cup selectors can start getting experimental. Why is this cincept proving so hard to grasp?

I also agree. I just don't agree that he is in the best 11. The squad definately, I just wouldnt have him in my final line up.
