Re: Anthony Ireland
Another week, another true saviour. Frankly, the Sean Ervine experience shows why we shouldn't waste too much time chasing people who don't really want to come back.eugene wrote:So now that we have all agreed that Anthony Ireland is the one true saviour of Zimbabwean cricket we need to fill a plane with booze and women and send it to his local airport.
Re: Anthony Ireland
Also, I don't think any one player could transform the Zim side. Even Bradman wouldn't be a miracle cure, so what chance Ireland, Ervine, Rogers, de Grandhomme, Mugabe, etc...maehara wrote:Another week, another true saviour. Re: Anthony Ireland
That is true - no single player is going to cure all our ills. Not even Mugabe.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

And we're all aware of his pedigree...eugene wrote:That is true - no single player is going to cure all our ills. Not even Mugabe.
Re: Anthony Ireland
I did see Ireland a few weeks back in Wimbledon and he's looking massive these days. If I see him again il ask him why he's not playing back in Zimbabwe. Be good to send him back and play there...
Re: Anthony Ireland
Anthony Ireland would certainly be an improvement on the current riff raff we have in our pace attack.

Yes...he's be handy.eugene wrote:Anthony Ireland would certainly be an improvement on the current riff raff we have in our pace attack.
But seriously, is he going to resolve our pace problem...
I think he'd be a very good new ball bowler in test cricket, possibly along side Chitara or Mpofu...
But after that he'll just become another solitary medium pace bowler..
Guys like Jarvis, Chitara, Nicholson and Shingrai Mazakadza are the men to watch.
Yes, all four of them are genuinely raw fast bowlers ; they've got pace but no control.
Ireland made his choice when he 'retired' in 2007...leave him be...we're better off without the dreaming...
Re: Anthony Ireland
Agreed, but not at the same age. Remember how raw he was when he first played for Zim? It has taken Ireland 4 years of County Cricket before he became a County regular.eugene wrote:Anthony Ireland would certainly be an improvement on the current riff raff we have in our pace attack.
In Mpofu, Nicholson, Masakadza, Tiripano, Jarvis and especially Chatara, Zim have the most promising ever group of pace bowlers. However, I think it will be a couple of years before they start to realise their undoubted potential on the International stage.

Well Said Ryan.
A talented batsman but a modest, hardworking character, Stuart Matsikenyeri is the third of three school friends from Churchill Boys High School, Harare to represent Zimbabwe in international cricket. - Cricinfo.
