Exactly. Its not mere comparison of averages. The quality of Andy's performances. Teams treated Andy more than just as a thorn in their flesh. Taylor, despite being the premier performer for Zim, is yet to earn even a simple recognition yet. He hasn't caught the attention of the world, although it is beginning to come with the overseas T20 contracts. He has to perform and earn respect of the opposition the way Andy did for us to even think of comparing them.eugene wrote:When Taylor starts scoring centuries in the subcontinent on turning wickets while the rest of the side is collapsing then maybe we can start talk about comparing him to Andy Flower.
I don't think people realise just how special Andy Flower was. He is a once in a generation type of player for a national like Zimbabwe which has a very small player base. Zimbabwe may not produce such a player again in our lifetimes.

Re: Taylor vs Flower A
At this stage I would have Taylor in my all time Zimbabwean batting lineup (which realistically only is 1990 onward)
But he is still well behind flower and houghton for reasons mentioned...
He is however creeping up on Murray Goodwin who in my mind has the number 3 position down and has recently surpassed Grant Flower.

No. Gobby (GF) was a dream test player.sloandog wrote:Was Goodwin regarded as a better player that Flower ?
There is no comparison between Andrew Flower and BT. I even find King Flower's misspelled name (in the original post) as a disrespect.

Gentlemen, look at it this way. Taylor is still 26, given enough tym he will gwt the respect Flower had. lyk most of u im a gret fan of flower and the old team. he's probably the greatest sweeper ofthe ball the game has eva known. its also becoz u dont rily appriciate wat Taylor does for the team. he is just begining to find his stride and place. he also got big hundreds gainst SA and NZlnd. Sum1 sed had flower had poor support, liar, Campbell, Grant and Carlilse used to support him well. Remember the India Upset that Campbell scored a 100. They all batted well around him. the only thing we ddnt have was that extra man in the middle that all teams have, well except fo bangladesh. Give him time
