C. Chibhabha, R. Chakabva, B. Mujuru.7th question: Which players you would like to include in the squad who were not in the squad of Bangladesh and Kenya tour?Give reasons for that.
Robertson Chinyengetere has been outstanding in club cricket this season, he's averaging 99.00 for Uprising courtesy mainly of a few medium not-out scores - but from the scores I've received only Mark Mabuza (86*) has made a bigger score than Chinyengetere's 75* and Malcolm Wallers 68. But he needs to have a big year in the Logan Cup I feel to get a look in. Takarusenga as well, he has been outstanding for Bulawayo Athletic Club - he's the only player in recent memory that has been getting big scores regularly, but hasn't had enough chances to impress for Westerns. Both players are just a couple of matches away from being permanent fixtures in the A team I think.
Mujuru has already impressed at A team level (averaging ~30 in one day matches) and might be more prepared to take the next step. Chibhabha obviously needs to be brought back, he was unlucky to be dropped ahead of Matsikenyeri in the first place. And Chakabva is needed for batting depth, and in all likelihood as a backup wicket keeper.
I really like the idea, ever since his First Class century I have thought moving Utseya up the order would be a good idea. Since then he has shown some good form with the bat in ODI's as well, which is good for the team. The only problem I have with it is the amount of pressure it would put on Utseya, is being expected to concede under 4 an over, bat at #4 and then captain the team too much pressure to put on him?Now to my question: I have been professing for having "Professor Dots" at no 4. What is your take on that? What should be Utseya's batting position?
If he feels up to the task though, by all means he should give it a crack. Technically he seems to be fine, and as long as he is able to hang around for a few overs to get settled, he does tend to make a start. What he seems to understand more than other batsmen is that partnerships are important, he has been involved in a few important ones recently.
It will be very tough to bat at #4 against Sri Lanka, they have a very strong spin department so it is one of those "make or break" situations. If he can get around 25 and be involved in a 50+ run partnership, I think that would be an acceptable outcome. Obviously you want your top order to be capable of making big scores, but at the moment maybe Utseya would be more of a glue to hold the lineup together (ie. to ensure that the Zimbabwe Collapse™ doesn't happen) so a moderate score in the 20's and 30's would be fine.
9th question: Where should our two biggest hitters Mutizwa and Chigumbura bat? How would this affect powerplays?
