Brilliant thanks SZ.
I don't supposed you'd have any stats?
Disappointing that the grass roots stuff doesnt seem to be working. No high density schools represented at all. All that money for hundreds of level 1 coaches and no results?
Did we not have any overseas guys on scholarships or just with Zim passports we could have looked at?
Zimbabwe U19 Tri-Series | July 25 - August 10 | 2025
Re: Zimbabwe U19 Tri-Series | July 25 - August 10 | 2025
Some guy called Mbongoro on X posted stats of guys that have been left out who are a level up from the Chigumbura Academy boys. Almost enough to make a team!
Maybe a couple of guys have just walked away, or couldn't drive to Takashinga every day and were told they lacked intererest?
The selection rot starts from the first age group, the damage is usually done by u19 level, but it comes to light at u19 because there's genuine public interest.
Im trying to find Makoni's and Matsi's lads' stats. Ideally they should be good.

But he's in this u19 squad? Are there 2 brothers?

Whichever Matsi that is he must be some player!
Eastbourne have taken some great players from here.
Looking forward to seeing him

Summer holidays.
I also believe he studied in India and trained full-time at a cricket academy for about 9 months last year.
Only seen him bat once, last year, and can’t say I saw much to write home about. Maybe he’s improved.

Alastair Carle, the highest run-scorer, and Connor Lovatt, the best all-rounder (who was a World Cup standby), were not selected. Matthew Martell, Alex Landman, and Fergus Watson, all players from the 1st team Sogo Rangers, were also not selected.

Im trying to figure out if they went to the same school or if there's another common denominator that excluded them from the squad when they are our best players and the current team cant come within 300 runs of SA C team?
Re: Zimbabwe U19 Tri-Series | July 25 - August 10 | 2025
I doubt they'll be better than Matsi's boy though. With that pedigree going to one of the best cricketing achools in the world he has to be exceptional. I cant find his stats though?
Re: Zimbabwe U19 Tri-Series | July 25 - August 10 | 2025
Landman and Watson are still young, ie they would be eligible next time still.
J.Matsi - 14 matches, 287 runs @ 26 for Eastbourne in school cricket this UK summer. 100 against Dulwich College, who are coached by Sarah Taylor.
