Re: [Series Thread] Zimbabwe XI in Netherlands
If we went with performances against Associates as a true barometer of form, Piet Rinke would be irreplaceable - I remember him smashing Canada and Bermuda to all sides of the park in the tri-series in West Indies a few years back. Very impressive.
Then they played him against West Indies and one or two other Full Member sides, and the results weren't so impressive. See also Vusi SIbanda's 200+ against Kenya in our last Intercontinental Cup outing, versus his performances for the senior side lately.
It's great to see Stuey hit some form again - he stuck with us through the hard times, and frankly deserves a little loyalty for that - but I think he'll need to put a few more good first-class knocks together before he's back in the frame for the senior side.

Perhaps we should have brought in Piet Rinke to open for us in the Intercontinental Cup, His lusty blows at the top of the order are sorely missed.

Well done Matsi - U legend
A talented batsman but a modest, hardworking character, Stuart Matsikenyeri is the third of three school friends from Churchill Boys High School, Harare to represent Zimbabwe in international cricket. - Cricinfo.

Re: [Series Thread] Zimbabwe XI in Netherlands
A bit of a wobble after Sibanda and Matsikenyeri had got things off to a steady and sensible start
Matsikenyeri 68 and another very disappointing failure for Coventry with just 9
With a lead of just over 260 we need slow and thoughtful batting to build up an unreachable lead and then go for the throat
151-4 now, Sibanda 43* Ervine 5*

Moving along nicely to 199-4 at lunch with a lead of 311
Sibanda 75* Ervine 21*
The same steady progress as this morning would have a lead of 430/450 by tea, then .........
IN FOR THE KILL
