If or should I say when Williams comes back we really are going to have five 40 year olds playing at the 2027 World Cup. Will surely be a record

At this rate I'm genuinely not ruling out a Ballance comeback

Hide and seek with naqvi continues

So much for the official line ‘NPL performances don’t count for selection’.Marshmallow wrote: ↑Fri Oct 24, 2025 3:01 pmGraeme cremer added to T20I squad for Afghanistan series.
Seems they do for favourites but not for others…

Surprisingly it’s white guys too.
Old Hamilton bosses the NPL every season and can’t get a game

Ya I'm struggling to see Cremer's usefulness. There might be a case for him in 50 over or test squad, but there's absolutely zero reason for him to be in the T20 squad.
Is he good enuf that his 4 overs of leg spin will make the difference? His batting is not strong enough for that to even be a factor.
Masakadza would also sit out if he played. Its a factor in that he's one of the Chosen Ones. If the pitch dictated that we needed a "specialist" spinner I'd rather have Wellie, who's a better T20 batter.
Burl and Raza are more than enuf to fulfill the spin role. We don't have world beating spinners, we are better off with these two and play the extra seamer or batter. If or when Naqvi becomes available with his decent offies that should be the very end for Wellie in all formats and would make it almost impossible for Cremer in T20.
Anyone with half a brain would concur, so what's the deal?
Taylor punting for his mate will be a small factor, but there's a bit more to this.

And where does this leave Masekesa? I rate Vinnie.
Im not sold on Cremer being around.
This upcoming white ball will be a good test for Taylor. Not sold on him either. His inclusion is doing a huge disserve to a couple of players, particularly Nick Welch, who's going to be around for another 10 years and is a better T20 player than Taylor.
These older guys "hanging around" for their last hurrah World Cup appearances is actually counter productive in my opinion. There are a number of guys theyre literally going to make lesser players of by sitting them out in favor of guys that dont bring much more to the table, if anything.
That's my final verdict, been thinking about it for a while- the old boys club gotta go! Theyre using them a bit to prop up a couple of players that shouldnt be there as well.
