Japan have an interesting side. I'd love to see us up against them. AI says 5000 players in total, their u19 pool will probably be a lot bigger than ours. We pick from a pool of about 20 players max.
Theyre handing Tanzania a shagging we would not be capable of and they have hardly capitulated to the bigger teams either.
In a nation such as Japan where baseball is by far the most popular sport it is not a surprise that someone wants to switch to cricket. As a cricketer and former baseball player I can bear witness that these two sport have plenty of requiring skills in common.
Secondly, most of baseball grounds may fit to cricket when you include baseball foul areas. Oakland Coliseum is a main example.
In a Country such as Japan poor of available land, having existing baseball infrastructure to recycle is an advantage.
Finally since in Japan there are 120 million people a pool of 5.000 cricketers may be reasonable.

What is not reasonable is a pool of 20 players in Zimbabwe. This makes no sense at all and in front of such a meagre number I can't say it may be fault only on Zimbabwe Cricket authority.

What they have done well is they have a few players who live and play in Aus. So they are actually using the dispora to their advantage.

Did you see the photo of the player in full cricket kit invoking the ancestors in front of a Mbuya Nehanda statue in the city centre? I'm assuming she played a silent hand in the outcome of the Pakistan game, but now the whole team needs to get there before tomorrow's game. That's a big ask for an intervention against India, maybe save it for the Bangladesh game. Or rain tomorrow and then a big win against Bangladesh, and all the other teams' games rained off. Anyway it's a tall order.
If you make a succesful deal with a higher being its quid pro quo. Theyre demanding.

The 3 best sides look to be England, India, Australia.
