This is the worst SA team in their history and the best one they’ll ever have again. Look at the CSA officials crammed in on that balcony having flown fc and living it up in a fancy hotel. Where the fuck have I seen that before?
It’s not a great side is it. Lots of players who are now over the hill, like Duminy and Amla, and Tahir who is 40 (still good enough mind you). Ngidi looks clueless up top with the new ball, Shamsi isn’t good enough and Markram has been a flop, along with the other batters bar Van Der Dussen.

Scary times ahead with Steyn’s retirement imminent and others set to follow.

They’re a big country and they will always produce good cricketers so they will always compete, but they’ve seen their best days. It’s like here, their economy and their policies will have the last say. Their board and the provincial boards have looted the funds, their franchise system is nowhere near as strong as it was and their club system has gone downhill hugely. I’d say our problems really started with the demise of club cricket whilst their main issue has been this horrible quota rule at age group provincial level.

Never understood the hype around Markram, he looks kind of ordinary against worldclass bowling attacks, particularly in ODIs.

Every game is a virtual knockout now for Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. 3 games left for each with the BD vs PAK potentially being a virtual QF.

But that all requires England to lose to India, Australia, and NZ.

The Afghans have already stated their intention of taking BD (and by extension PAK) down with them. This should make for some really juicy contests between the 3 sides.

Really surprised by SA’s poor showing. Did not thing they would make the semis but thought they’d finish 5th pace. Seems like they might well finish 9th which is terribly embarrassing for such a storied side.

BD, PAK, and SL are right now neck and neck. PAK has the advantage of # of top sides beaten (ENG and SA), SL has the advantage of two washouts equaling an extra win, and BD has the advantage of a [currently] significantly superior net run rate.

The odds are against England losing three on the trot.
Pakistan have 4 damned good batsmen up front and Amir and Riaz are bowling beautifully. Some of those tracers are showing that they’re getting some late swing and dip with the white ball, that not many other guys are extracting. When they fire they’re a tough side. Amir’s time in the wilderness is a big shame for him, what a fantastic bowler.

Yea I want the Tigers to absolutely bum Afghanistan today, put them firmly in their place. The arrogance of their side is so apparent, calling out players in the press before the game and saying how they expect to win. Please, give me strength. Shakib and Mushy are in the form of their lives

I see the Afghans are claiming Mujeeb is only 18, that’s a worse lie than claiming Rashid Khan is 20. Playing age group cricket there can’t be much fun, they’ll have a 20 year old bowling 140 rockets at grade 5’s.
