A lot of batsmen these days give singles to the #9 and even 10, and only start hogging the strike when the 11 comes in. Now if you're a Watling and your #10 averages 15 and is capable of hitting Test 50s, its OK. But not if you're Mushfiq and your #9 averages 5.

Just watched the highlights for yesterday. Some of the wickets are just school boy errors. Maruma not offering a shot on a ball that is just outside off, absolute shambles. Then he gets out because he couldn't move his feet. Not the skills needed at this level. I can see why everyone was on his case earlier.

BT was unlucky. Yes, we may not like the sweep or reverse sweep, but you really have to think that that wickets was not due to his shot. It was just rather unlucky really. Rest of the wickets seemed to be more about mental resolve than anything. I know Prince was a little lucky to get to 50 with the chances he offered, but you have to think there is enough from him to know that if he has the right coaching, he can weed those things out and get better.

Overall though, to be in the position we were in and then to not get to 300 is a shambles.
