By the sounds of it too many missed chances this morning has taken the game away from Zim.
Best case now would be a rain affected draw.

Pitch still looks decent for batting. Some turn but nothing outrageous. Nothing in it for the quicks as well.

Yep it's getting out of hand. Lead now 150.
Both Welly and Vince have bowled. I hope Vinnie gets his 5-fer.
Good little knock from Mehidy here. His numbers look great for somebody who is only 27. It didn't take Bangladesh that long to find a good replacement for Shakib.

It is still looking very flat.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 5:38 amPitch still looks decent for batting. Some turn but nothing outrageous. Nothing in it for the quicks as well.
Almost seems wasted to have Ritchie in. A pace all rounder is much needed.

New ball with your two strike bowlers against the tail I'd have 2 slips always. A couple of missed opportunites.
We've rarely been able to wrap up the tail.
Even with Vinnie, Craig had two slips and Williams took a sharp catch. Hindsight is easy but he probably should have continued with that.
I didn't watch the session, just looking at a couple of highlights. We need the monsoon to descend.
Going by our track record even a 50 run lead by Bangladesh would have been a tall order but this is just game over. Our guys just have to bat time, but reasonably positively, occupy the crease and learn about sub continent spin.
A seaming all-rounder that can genuinely bat is surely a priority for our team?
These are our options-
Gimu- we're yet to really see him, but he's more a bowler.
Evans- ticks the bowling dept but keeps failing with the bat despite real ability. Surely work with this guy to improve his batting and get him up the order in fc. Opportunity wasted year after year.
Higgins- opportunity lost in my view. They'd take Muyeye if he asked to play here, but they won't look at a really established all-rounder with a good record.
Faraz and Luke- they're decent but they're 120 trundlers. Faraz is the most reliable batter of all of these players, he's pretty good.
In hindsight, which is meaningless, Richie has struggled and an all rounder would have been a better choice.
With all these tests coming up he has to be a worry. These two decks have offered assistance to the seamers, especially the first one and he didn't bowl well.

Oh I forgot about Nyamhuri. He's a like for like because of the left arm seam and he's about our quickest bowler, but again doesnt have much control, relies on one or two good deliveriesan over. He's shown that he can hold a bat, but is way off being labelled an all-rounder. He's got hard hands, he'd have been a sitting duck on this pitch as a batter.

You say that but watch your seamers get movement. Your seamers get it to nip into the right handers all the time and theyre not off-cutters, you're never in. Apart from Blessing your bowling attack is way more accomplished.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 5:38 amPitch still looks decent for batting. Some turn but nothing outrageous.
