Standing tall when batting as opposed to being low. We also need to be better with a straight bat and show
Standing taller is a big change for a batter. That takes some practice to effect that change.
Everyone naturally goes a bit lower when they're facing quick bowling and expecting it short.
Who are you talking about specifically?

Ya Zampa is good. Was hitting a really good length there. Almost too quick to come out to and that top spin gives him serious loop. Obviously works, but I think he'd get more value against us if he put more side on it.

They will have seen enough of our batters to have a firm plan next game, it will be interesting.

That's literally what training is for. It's also literally part of the game. being able to change your game. So many players have changed aspects of their game to play differently and are better off for it.

Tbh I'm relatively surprised. Pleasantly! We asked them to be competitive and they kind of were for large parts of the match. Sort of.
Got to remember it's these guys first match against Australia in their careers. To have spent most of your career playing local club cricket punctuated by occasional encounters against Bangladesh and Ireland, to suddenly then be facing Australia in Australia, whilst probably jet-lagged, it doesn't get much tougher than that in world cricket! Especially when you look at our side and see so much inexperience both in term of age and matches played.

Sounds like we could have easily got our way to 230/240 from your posts, which is frustrating. Kind of similar to the third India game, where we were good and competitive but frustratingly not quite there. Some of that will be inexperience for sure. Some will just be the natural gulf in quality between the two sides. Some will be our guys being just a bit dim. Might have been interesting with another 40-50 on the board, as always. Very poor looking scorecard for the lower order. Expect a bit more from Burl/Jongwe/Evans for sure.

It's positive that we survived ten overs without losing a wicket. Marumani and Madhevere scoring runs is very pleasing. From the 25 overs I saw, they didn't look particularly out of place against some of the world's best. A bit scratchy and Aus missed some chances, but still - great to see our youngsters getting runs. They are both very capable. But still a long way to go.

I didn't see any of our bowling, but at least we took some wickets. So the pitch took a lot of spin in the afternoon? Interesting.

All in all not a disaster, which is what we asked for. The 3rd game with India and the 1st game with Australia show we are definitely not at this top level, but we aren't a million miles away either.

Quite a lot to learn from today, hopefully they learn quick and can build on it for Wednesday. Willliams and Muzarabani should take us a bit closer hopefully.

Also let's be honest, if we were playing this series 4 months ago with Rajput still in charge, we would have been totally battered. Feels like the side is making progress for sure.

For all the criticism (including mine) of Wes, that's now 11 50's for his country before the age of 22. Not bad. Needs to convert next.

Aussie commentators are knowledgeable and do such a good job as compared the the clueless ones in the subcontinent.
Yeah, they were very well researched. Right at the start they seemed to know as much as any of us on the likes of Kaia and Marumani, which is surprising. Good stuff.

The only thing that irks me about Aussie commentators generally is their forced 'banter' which is insufferable and tedious and usually not in the slightest bit amusing or natural. And putting 3 or 4 letter D's in Madhevere's name somehow  Way better than most though. I'm still scarred for life from the Afghan commentators in March 2021!

He looked very tired today. Probably not used to staying in this long

They were good except for Gaz, must have been his debut and often kept talking for the sake of it! Don’t think he’s a natural wordsmith!

Yeah he shows now and again what he can do. 72 against the likes of Hazelwood and Starc is some achievement.

Dropping him that last game has definitely helped him.

Let’s hope he finds some consistency to improve that average.
