Agreed ZIMDOGGY. It's quite amazing.

I'll take it a step further. I believe the situation is so bad that the ZCF XI wouldn't disgrace themselves in a 4-day game against the Logan Cup no-name XI. By that I mean, pick 11 forumers and pit us against 11 unknowns from the Logan Cup (Kamunhukamwe, Masunda, et al). And if we get Aliseni and a few other FC players who are on here to turn out for the ZCF XI then I'd say we'd start as favourites.

I would even push for a two team Logan Cup.

I am a firm believer in expansion either have the return of the academy side or the rocks franchise. The other alternative is to have a 10 team provincial competition below the Franchise system that runs concurrently with the Franchiose competetion that would allow fringe players and youth players develop.

A prospective side would be

1. Diplock
2. Kunje
3. Price
4. Shereni
5.Kamumhukamwe
6. Kondo
7.Patel
8. Taufill
9. Mafusire
10.Bowie
11. Bell
12. Jakiel
13. Mupunga
14. Kaia
15.Masunda
16. Manyumwa
17. Munyoro
18.Parker
19.Zimwa
20. Zambuko

I would tend to agree with this. Obviously the standard is not going to be great, especially when the national guys are away. However, there has to be a sufficiently large number of people playing cricket for a living and getting regular game time. The biggest obstacle of course? Finances...

Two or three full-time provincial teams. Then a part-time B-League or club scene underneath. Zimbabwe can really only justify having about 30 full-time cricketers.

if expansion is the game why stop at 5 or 6?
Why not make it ten?

thats more opportunities?

Screw it, lets have a 14 team domestic comp and elevate the Harare Metro league to first class status.

I know you're taking the piss... But if it was "elevated" to first class status, and was able to provide the wages, full fixture and training programme... Then this would be a positive.

#jakielmania - 12th man, again :(

When will he finally make his FC debut?
Mashonaland could really use his deadly accurate yorker length thunderbolts.

Is there any truth to the rumours that Jakiel is courting offers from IPL teams? Zimbabwe cannot afford to lose this once in a generation talent. If Mumbai pick him up as is widely tipped to be the case, then he could well be in Indian colours 4 years from now.
