Norbert Manyande will be a late call-up in all likelyhood.

That's a fair point. So let's make this the One-And-Only Fantasy Squad Thread.

I'll leave this pinned, and from here on in if anyone wants to post their <<insert excuse here>> XI or whatever, this is the thread to do it in. Squads randomly posted elsewhere will be deleted. With prejudice.

My starting XI would be:
1. Brendan Taylor
2. Charles Coventry
3. Sean Williams
4. Tatenda Taibu
5. Sean Ervine
6. Craig Ervine
7. Elton Chigumbura
8. Prosper Utseya
9. Graeme Cremer
10. Ray Price
11. Christopher Mpofu

That's exactly how i would have my side.

no surprises, and a the STRONGEST squad zimbabwe have ever put out since the "rebellion of 2004", and can put out. so its good that the WC will have the strongest sides of the top 10 teams at least (barring pakistan).

however, not sure why coventry was chosen. if hamilton was dropped coventry should have been also. all in all a solid squad. a win against NZ might well be enough to propel the side into teh QF round.

Taibu should open with B.Taylor,he has done tht before and he is not the best player to handle spin so it might be a good move.

I guess Greg Lamb could be the anchor at one end while Taylor plays the more attacking innings. I would rather have Coventry attack and Taylor anchor the innings.

Actually what I would like most is for both Taylor and Coventry to attack and not lose their wicket either. A 300-run opening partnership sounds good to me.

i was going to say last night in this thread have a feeling Greg lamb would open the batting...

he is a natural opener.

they will put him at the top for the eagles, which is only one place anyway from where he is.

i've really got to start posting my thoughts down...there like prophecies...!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats twice in 2 days i could have landed a hole in one.

you may also remember a few months ago i suggested it.
