Zim vs Aus spot fixing?! Zim threw away wickets?
what about Imran Tahir? how else do u explain the decision to take a bowler from the blue and experiment at THE WORLD CUP! Campbell himself agrees that Chopper is frustratingly difficult to handle but then you need ways to use him judiciously. Imagine a Greatbatch at the top of the innings. If he fires he can single handedly win the game for us. We persisted with Matsi, Sibanda, Taibu's antics in the past then why cant you give Coventry at least 19 chances post 194?

Mark Dekker, Trevor Gripper and Piet Rinke would all do a far better job than Coventry.

The fact is they dropped Masakadza without making a replacement plan. All they cared about was sending a message to the rest that no one is safe. If team performance was a priority then why did it come from the blue? The Tahir example is different because he was deliberately kept away from the Indian tour as a secret weapon. Having said that, I'd like to see us sticking with Coventry because Masakadza isn't in the squad.

We could do with some of Piet Rinke's lofty blows at the moment. I think we should persist with Coventry as we really have no other options.

Tut, tut, dont get excited now. Besides, for one to be able to analyze, its logical that they are able punctuate first!!

At least with Coventry if he isn't going to score any runs he gets out quickly. Someone like Duffin probably wont score any runs either but he will take 10 overs to get out thus wasting valuable time. There is a lot of upside with Coventry and its not like he is the only one struggling for runs. Brendan Taylor hasn't done much for awhile and is also rather inconcsistent.

few observations and thoughts:

netherlands are a stronger batting team than us...as are ireland.

coventry is a tail ender

mawoyo is playing for his state team....but got dumped from the squad for being injured.

Why dump the playa-hater for the sake of missing one game in a game he wasnt going to play anyway???? (although given that lam,v got injured pre game and if someone else got a last minute withdrawl they'd have no one but they didnt know lamb would be injured.

Craig ervine looks scared of the ball....but can bat

Sean Williams looks calm and content and should be and will be better than he is now.

Greg lamb should get a run as an opener.

and non batting related:
graeme cremer is a gun bowler that looks dangerous and should be better than he was prior to the openiing two games. he terrorized canada and subdued australia and is accurate with a googly to die for.

My beef is that CC is not an opener. Had HM been replaced by an opener, chibhabha or Mawoyo or even Vusi then it would be fine i think this was a questionable decision. But its the WC and u would not want to mess with a critical aspect as an opening partnership. If they were trying to send a message about Ham then i thnk it only discouraged the players and left huge questions in their heads. Like i said earlier CC is there and is opening only he can be his own enemy and here is a chance to prove himself cos there are youngsta who want in backed by stats. I actually hopes he really fires against Nz.
