If I get a spare hour or so I’ll do my usual player reviews but this time for Bangladesh, this should give me & Kriterion enough to argue you for the next few months until Zimbabwe play another match lol
I look forward to it and will post my version after yours.

BD losing so many critical tosses epseically vs India and Pakistan may have made all the difference. We scored 286 vs India batting second, so I think we could have gotten 300 batting first, and no team chased 300 successfully all tournament, except BD vs a terrible WI bowling attack.

Cricinfo finally ran an article:

India 150-6!! Jesus what a game this is.
I love watching India play but I really hope NZ get over the line. For such a small nation they always punch above their weight, in all sports.
I’ve booked tomorrow off work to watch the England Australia clash.

I really thought NZ had lost all momentum and were no chance against India. Now they are in the final!

As usual the commentators seemed very much behind India. Once Jadeja and Dhoni were going they were making it sound like India had the game in the bag, despite the asking rate being 10 or more. Sure Dhoni is one of the great finishers, but the asking rate was still high.

So you can keep Zimbabwe out of the world cup, but you can't stop a Zimbabwean from reaching the world cup final.

Colin de Grandhomme. The first Zimbabwe born player to reach a cricket world cup final?

Maybe. That was some game we’ve just witnessed. Dhoni left his charge late again, was backing himself to chase 12’s for the last three. That’s a big ask. Brilliant game if cricket.

Had he dived, would India have made the final?

I like Dhoni a lot and think he's one of the greats. And in general I'm a defender of his recent go-slow approach because he's so damn good. There was a stat that of games he's been not-out in, India has won 47 and lost 2. But today, I wonder if he went too slowly. Had he gone at a run a ball or even a strike rate of about 80, there would have been much less pressure in those final few overs.

I thought Williamson's tactics were spot on except for one thing. He should have eked out another Neesham or de Grandhomme over earlier in the innings, it was cutting it too fine to hold Neesham back until the end even though it worked out because Ferguson bowled a brilliant penultimate over.

Absolutely beautiful to watch India lose. Nice to see Shastri get some comeuppance for the way he treated umpires during the Tendulkar match fixing debacle in 2000. India have always carried themselves like they are above everyone and the world is against them, especially the way they were carrying on when Dhoni was told not to wear the army gloves.

NZ are just the team that everyone can't hate. Nice to see them in the final. Hopefully they can go all the way and then we can claim that Zim won the title in some way.
