If its about getting married, fair play to Sean, women do make a lot of decisions for their man. Zim cricket had already moved on without him, we got Craig, just hope we will make a bit of history at this world cup.andrewn9 wrote:Its possible Hants waved a load of dosh under his nose. His reasons for staying at Hants (he cited getting married soon and the excess international travel involved with playing for Zim) are surely things he would have been aware of a few months ago.

Well im Devastated, im glad you find it funny and personally dont care.funkyslug7 wrote:haha you guys crack me up! Abusive language........???remember what people signed up to. everyone has a right to say what they like on here and personally I dont care what people write but before you pass on your 5 cents worth maybe look at the reasons for that decision/comment. I wish zim every success at the WC.
ps conant... maybe if you had a decision to make like I had, you would make a better one!
Theres a reason why you were a fan favourite despite not being a part of the setup for 6 years.
The sad thing is you had a chance to go down as a legend, maybe a world cup hero....someone who would be talked about in zim circles for years to come, being internationally famous, maybe getting an IPL contract, or if nothing else, creating a dynasty with your brother Craig like the flowers before you (I'd love to play with my bro on the big stage, guess thats not a value you hold). Instead you are going to plug out a few more years with your 'family' at hampshire, in front of their 88 fans....and when you retire you will drift away quietly with a legacy as someone who dogged their country when only 2 weeks ago you were seen as a pseudo-national hero.....i feel stupid personally for writing last week how courageous you were in your decision to come back.
There are some legit reasons to pull out of a world cup and forfeit playing for your country.....in my book being pussy whipped isnt one of them.

Really sorry for Zim because this guy would have strengthened your team.
But the lesson here should make you tread warily when posts are written about recruiting Ireland & Cameron & others playing overseas. If they are not playing in Zim now to qualify for the international team, then it seems the comfort zone of county cricket is too tempting.
In the 90s, Australia had a player Martin McCague who was a useful seamer playing Sheffield Shield with Western Australia. He had Irish heritage. He played for Kent & eventually played for England. His test stats aren't that great but McCague said at one point that by playing in England he would be a millionaire by the end of his county career providing his fitness held. By staying in Australia, he was earning less than average wage (in those days) for 6-8 months commitment & then had to find part time work for the rest of the year. Don't know where he is now, but he gets free admission to Lord's.
ZC had better get commitment from guys like Gary Ballance or else you guys lose out.

Re: like i told you guys before about ervine
Based on the views on this forum Sean was basically goin to be the "father figure" of the Zim team. He raised supporters hopes and am sure even amongst the team members. But he decides the "father figure" role and the presure 2 "bring home the bacon" are 2 much 2 bear and he "divorces" his "wife"(ZC) abandoning the "children" (team Zim) when they most meed him.
Now i am citing the marriage reason SE put forth. I commend him for putting his marriage first.
BUT- If he carries that "form" (abandoning ship when the heat is on) then he may hav a tough time handling real father figure role in his own home-where he will b expectd to open the batting and carry the bat, bowl and field his own bowling, keep score, bring on the drinks...

Re: like i told you guys before about ervine
Sean Ervine should make ZC realise that the important thing is to focus on our local cricket players, Franchise cricket and school cricket, thats where our progress will come from. We should focuss on our Zim based players, those who wanted to return have returned. Am more bothered about our under 19 than losing out on SE. Domestic foreigners like Razza, Wessels if they qualified would be more committed to the Zim cause than Ireland, Cameron, SE, so long Sean.
Re: like i told you guys before about ervine
Completely agree. One day Sean will watch on telly as his brother Craig racks up runs in Tests against best players in the world, get IPL contract, come to Hants as an overseas player and he will regret this decision as he he introduces the famous Craig to his friends.shumbat wrote:Sean Ervine should make ZC realise that the important thing is to focus on our local cricket players, Franchise cricket and school cricket, thats where our progress will come from.
