POINTS - Permutations
Re: POINTS - Permutations
Being in WI's, and not SL's group has turned out to be a huge blessing!

That Scotland win changes things quite a bit. With games vs ZIM and NED left, they must be fancying their chances at qualification now.

Most of us had written off Scotland with the retirements of Coetzer & McLeod plus the absence of some of their experienced bowlers like Davey.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 10:20 pmThat Scotland win changes things quite a bit. But they seem like the real deal and a real threat. McMullen seems to be their key player, with bat & ball. Having a guy who bats 3 and can take the new ball is huge, he’s an actually proper all-rounder, top order batter and front line bowler.
I see he’s born in South Africa, what’s his story? Did he come through the Scottish system or an ex-Pat Saffa?

Yes. No matter what happens, as long as Zim beat Scotland, Zim are guaranteed to qualify.brmtaylor.com admin wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 9:24 amSo basically no matter what the other results are, Zimbabwe v Scotland is a knockout final?
(Assuming WI end up getting rolled again today, which it looks like will happen)

You would ideally wanna be a dutch fan rn. Their game against Scotland becomes crucial.

All the games are crucial. No one is talking about the Oman game, but beating Oman by 50 or even 30 runs instead of 14 could end up making all the difference when it comes down to NRR.Crastle_cog wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 3:15 amYou would ideally wanna be a dutch fan rn. Similarly the ZIM-SL game is critical. You may not need to win it, but you want to limit damage to your NRR as much as possible.

Yeah we missed our chance there
Re: POINTS - Permutations
Yup. A win against Scotland guarantees qualification irrespective of what happens today.
The only benefit of winning today will be that if Zim lose to Scotland they still get a lifeline of Netherlands beating Scotland or West Indies beating Sri Lanka in both those cases Zimbabwe will still qualify if they win today.

Its all in our hands. I would rather rely on our guys rather than opposing sides to qualify.sam_ahm wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 6:09 amYup. A win against Scotland guarantees qualification irrespective of what happens today.

Evans and Kaia really have to play today. Chatara has been woefully expensive. Madhevere needs a break.
Myers is the one after the world cup to invest in. Two 50s against the pakistan shaheens shows he still has the goods.
