Does annoy me how the majority of the forum think that the Welchs are the second coming. Decent bats with potential but not significantly better than the other lads in the system.

Welch Senior gets a lot of low scores for someone who everyone thinks should in the national side in all formats. In reality only Naqvi has dominated at FC level in all formats in recent years.
It's a game of millimetres, you can argue the degree, but they're better than most. They have a higher ceiling and they practice more than most. Interesting that every team they play in seems to win most games as well. They contribute significantly on a regular basis.

Naqvi certainly has outperformed them more times, he's done brilliantly, nobody is arguing that. He had an excellent innings against Canada yesterday, as did Maruma.

Dunno if anyone watched Evans bowling? He bowled beautifully, so much control.

But not if he has a Zimbabwe passport. That alone in theory should automatically make him eligible.

Anyway, the fact he’s still playing is a really good sign and Zimbabwe can’t be too far off (early 2026 at the latest it seems). He walks into the team.
Not at all, Aydee is 100% RIGHT
No he isn’t. Read the ICC regs.
The crazy thing on the socials is people can’t seem to grasp Zim citizenship criteria and ICC residency criteria are two separate things and both make up the equation. You’ve got to meet both to play, it’s not one or the other

Jonty thinks he has the inside track and that Knackers has to do his 10 years. Ordinarily yes, but there's that investment route and of course many other ways. The problem is it's high profile. It has to be legitimised in some way. I'll guarantee there's a discretionary clause in the legislation, just needs someone important to stamp it.

In a fair world the ICC might look at having an exception for countries that ain’t rolling in immigration.

Like your more likely to move to England/ Australia then Zimbabwe.

You would cap the limit at one non natural born citizen per starting 11.

Finally someone with some bit of sense. Zimbabwean Laws takes precedence over ICC regulations. You have to satisfy local laws first and ICC regulations are secondary.

There has to be some respect on national teams this is not club cricket where anyone can just play. I have got nothing against Antum Naqvi, he must simply satisfy local laws simple as that nothing to special about him otherwise will see foreigners just flocking to Zimbabwe wanting to play. Naqvi must be a citizen first for him to do that he has to live in Zimbabwe for at least 9 months in a calendar year for a period of 10 years and renounce all other foreign citizenships he holds.

Nonsense and thank God, ICC provided regulations which are only secondary. This is NATIONAL TEAM not club cricket and ZIMBABWE is decent enough to put respect on national representative team eligibility criteria.

People seem to also forget that Muyeye is in the same boat here in England. He has to do his time first get that British Citizenship first and then be eligible for England.

Staying on topic, you are as clueless as ever. Muyeye is eligible to play for England tomorrow. Fact.

You are just an idiot. Muyeye, is on a five-year leave to remain period until 2026. At that point, he would then be in a position to apply for indefinite leave and British citizenship - meaning he would be available for England selection from 2027.

ECB tried to persuade the Home Office to reduce the number of years for him to become a British Citizen and the proposal was shot down straight away by the then Home Secretary.
