BT returning is wild
what a legend and patriot though. Hopefully it will be for the 2nd test
. I love him so much that I hope he has a decent go. Class is permanent they say.
Re: Test Series v New Zealand Squad
Don't know why we are bothering with BT in tests. White ball is where he is needed, should be given the NPL ahead of the Sri Lanka tour.
Re: Test Series v New Zealand Squad
Actually that team is short a spinner. Raza wont bowl 25 overs.Googly wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 5:47 pmThis is a good team.CalZim wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 5:24 pmBennett
Curran
Welch
Taylor
Ervine (c)
Williams
Raza
Tsiga (wk)
Nyamhuri
Chivanga
Muzarabani
That’s probably the strongest 11, Raza is the best spin option we have in the squad so no need for Masekesa or welly.
Tsiga is a much better option than Madande but really needs runs. I really want him to do well.
Batting lineup picks itself, a lot healthier with BT in there and our main openers back. Campbell should be in that squad though ahead of Makoni!
They could go Gwandu over Nyamhuri, tbh I have been really impressed with Gwandu in the shorter form recently so hopefully he can bring that form to tests. He has come on loads over the past couple of years.
Re: Test Series v New Zealand Squad
Bennett could bowl a bit. Williams won't/can't. If BT and Curran play its looking like Nelch is getting more bad news.
A very good reason would be needed to keep Wellie out.
If Ervine wasn't captain he'd potentially be in the firing line.

My thoughts as well. Unless Bennet can put a few in the right areas. Otherwise Naqvi in for BT there if possible.Googly wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 7:57 pmActually that team is short a spinner. Please get this right forget about Navqi for the foreseeable future, he is not going to play anytime soon.CholeZimbo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 8:16 pmMy thoughts as well. Unless Bennet can put a few in the right areas. Otherwise Naqvi in for BT there if possible.
Forget about BT in this Test Series he is not going to play. The plan is to assess him during the NPL and make a decision for the white ball series coming after the NZ tests.

Different eras. During the bulk of BT's international career, 160-170 was a solid total in T20s. Nowadays, you could score 220 and still lose.

Re: Test Series v New Zealand Squad
If there was no chance of him playing why would they name him on the squad? Not that they have, but theyre supposedly going to. He could just go there and get bowled at in the nets.jontym87 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 9:18 pmPlease get this right forget about Navqi for the foreseeable future, he is not going to play anytime soon.CholeZimbo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 8:16 pmMy thoughts as well. I know you've got beef with Knackers but he will play sooner than you think. Unless there really is quota and BT is enuf for now?
You've got the inside track. Tell us more.

Got to feel for Matigimu who got dropped after just one game. Yes it wasn't a good game but the fact they he got selected over Newman and Gwandu who are always in the squad says they must feel he is better than them. That's the major problem I have with the current selection. There is a real pattern of indecisiveness.
Look at how they didn't have faith in Nyauchi then brought him for one game then dropped him. Gwandu gets injured in England, Chivanga is flown in and played ahead of the Newman who was already there. Ngarava gets injured and when we play SA they firstly read the conditions wrong and pick an extra spinner. Then decide to play Matigimu who they just called up over Newman and Gwandu again. It's easy to blame the left arm/ right arm seamer combination but for me if 2 of your best fast bowlers are left handed, you still pick them. One day it's 4 seamers are a must, the next week have 2 seamers. Then 3.
To kill the argument both Newman and Trevor must play 1 test match each. Trevor is actually ok in the shorter formats when you watch him live. To kill the debate play him. Let's see.

Makes it look like there are more than 3 opinions on selection right now. That's why there is so much confusion. I actually really rate Newman but it just isn't making sense
