I don't know about batting first here. This batting lineup needed easing into the the game. We are in trouble here. And without assistance later on, our bowlers will struggle.
I felt they wanted to show some confidence.
Not seem so negative.

After sending teams in first and having huge totals scored
Yeah, would have been a real negative move to bowl first here.

Ball still doing a bit. Need these two to hang in there

I'd have bowled first. This pitch is tough and its cold.

I am cringing so badly at these two in the box. Massively rooting against Welch here 😄 slagging off his scoring rate...mate, its fucking test cricket

I dunno what game these guys are watching, Welch has had nothing to hit. Mistimed a pull. They've bowled a 4th 5th stump line back of a length. Why offer a shot ?

Welch picks a fight if the fielding side is available. Sets out to chat to them. Again Tino has it wrong

when I tuned in, Tino was saying Welch has what it takes, topped the Logan cup and would have got a century on debut, but struggles with consistency.

Seemed pretty reasonable an analysis?

Its getting bad.

And low and behold Nick is starting to hit out.

Almost like it was hard to bat for the first bit

This is good from Welchy. C'mon lad, make it impossible to be dropped for the second test. He's recognised that Bracewell is probably the bloke to target.

...would love to see him in the T20 outfit

It's more Rainsford than Tino I've found. I feel some of his comments are really weird. He was an unaccomplished bowler who only played 39 times for Zim and did fuck all. Plus he was given a career due to the political situation of 2004-08.
