Struggling to see the benefit of thrashing dross like Canada. We need to play decent quality A sides.

Well done Craig Ervine.
A talented batsman but a modest, hardworking character, Stuart Matsikenyeri is the third of three school friends from Churchill Boys High School, Harare to represent Zimbabwe in international cricket. - Cricinfo.

I guess Zimbabwe have to take whatever games they can get. Beggars cant be choosers. Although I agree the only thing these matches accomplish is perhaps giving our batsmen a bit of confidence.

Irrespective of who we are playing, that innings was full of character. He made sure that he did not lose his wicket when conditions were difficult and wickets were falling around him, and grew in confidence as the innings progressed. In many peoples' books, that goes down as quality effort.

1. One step at a time. The ICC have defined the Intercontinental Cup as part of our 'comeback plan', so first order of business is to win the title with as little fuss as possible. So far, so good.
2. At the moment, it's the senior side that needs to play quality 'A' sides, which they'll be doing soon enough if Coltart's talks with Cricket Australia are followed through on. This is the appropriate level for our 'A' side (which is what Zimbabwe XI really is).

...and there's the first wicket of the day. Canada 73/4, Canada require 149 more with 6 wickets in hand.
