Looks like the team has 2 or 3 passengers

I'd like to see Hlabangane and Shungu in the team

I'm not sure what game eksteen and shonken were playing but they cost them after a superb start.

Guess it's only a practice game.

Apparently numerous of the Afghan squad cricinfo profiles listed their ages as early-mid twenties this time last year but now the same players are all suddenly listing ages as being 17/18

I looked at the score a couple hours ago and saw ZIM boys at 162-2, eight wickets in hand and a required RR of only 5.16. Any other team and you go “they’ve got this in the bag, eyes closed”. But since it’s ZIM I thought to myself “even stevens game here”.
There is something fundamentally lacking. You can’t really blame the board for this type of failure that is pretty much scripted at this point. The Irish boys don’t play loads of U-19 cricket, their board doesn’t have loads of money.
I think the time to realize that the players in addition to lacking ability also seem to lack the desire to improve.

No but what they do have is approximately 120 active cricket clubs, all with their own grounds and nets and most of those clubs have their own junior age group programmes and teams. Probably several thousand teenagers participating in regular cricket.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Sun Jan 07, 2024 3:49 pmThe Irish boys don’t play loads of U-19 cricket, their board doesn’t have loads of money.
We have 6 schools, who mostly play cricket for 3 months per year.
Accusing some kids, who you don't know, have never met, and have never watched play, of 'lacking desire to improve' is pretty rude to be honest. They are kids doing their best. Try not to be a dick to them?I think the time to realize that the players in addition to lacking ability also seem to lack the desire to improve.

According to Cricket Ireland 27,000 school children participated in some cricket activities in 2019.
Ours would be more like 200. 300 at a stretch.

And there will be at least one fare paying passenger.
ICC and the rest of the world continue to let Afghanistan blatantly cheat. So sick of those arseholes.
The teams need to boycott them
