Musakanda has just been to England with the Rising Stars. I think he was the captain or among the thinking pool.
Anyway, Mashinge and Mavuta were stand out bowlers, and that's what the Rising Stars figures showed.
Muzarabani and Nagarava may have the goods, but they are still very raw.
So how does captain Musakanda justify bowling them them 3rd and 4th change? Akram and Ziwira got needles 20 overs ahead of them, when they should have been shared amongst the four Nagarava, Muzarabani, Mashinge and Mavuta. What on earth possessed him to bowl Burl when none of the bowlers had a load above 15 overs?
Captaincy is one area which Zimbabwe struggles with a lot. People have complained about Utseya, Elton, Taylor and now Cremer.
This is serious because a captian is arguable the most powerful cricketer in the country. Instead it appears the coach is above the captain. With such poor captaincy decisions, surely we might find a situation where it's ok for the coach to be more powerful, and it's clearly the case.
In this game the seam attack is Bruce, Mire and Chinouya. That will not get you anyehere near winning the Logan Cup. Panyangara and Madziva have to be part of it. That's a no brainer. My worry is if the national captain is making such calls at domestic level, then maybe he is actually making them at international level as well.
Eagles still have the likes of Aliseni, LTGM etc, while Tuskers still have Vitori. On the face of it, the captain is actually making his team's attack the weakest in the league. Which is a shame because the batsmen can put up the runs - and this was the symptom of Zimbabwe against SL home and away. No attack to defend anything.
Wouldn't be surprised if Matsikenyeri told him who to bowl and in what order. They are all still very young. Don't know if there is a young leader amongst them.

That's very possible. But Mashinge has been doing a lot for the u19s and the Rising Stars, even outbowling Ngarava and Muzarabani. Let's hope we see a change.
To be fair the Rising Stars got quite a soft landing in term sof the bowling they had to face. So they should have and still should do more.
One of the openers just fell, but Tari and Kamhunhukamwe are good bats. If they can push on, I think they might post something that will put Rhinos under pressure considering Tari, Burl, Mupariwa, Mashinge and Mavuta are all capable of scoring fifties, while they have an attack to skittle Rhinos for a low total, especially on the final day. Key is for them to be paitient in their batting.
Burl is showing why his FC stats are that good. I think people were right when they said he is a better FC prospect than Tari. He just needs that one big international knock to get his career going and prove doubters like myself wrong. The only slot available is the openers slot tho.
Yup. 1000 FC runs in his 15 match young FC career. Not many people have achieved that of late in Zim. That too if you consider all the stops and starts due to long injury layoffs. Quite impressive. Now the big question is, can he step up? Or would he be one of those domestic bullies we have gotten used to over the years?
EDIT: As we speak, 4 left handers batting right now across the two matches. With such a dearth of left handers in our system at the moment, this is a nice thing to notice

Exactly. He'll believe he can do it, but getting that first half century under the belt will hopefully be the start of it.
I wouldn't mind seeing him open for sure, or Musakanda.
Chisoro's been pretty expensive in this game. Hope he gets things together.
I've heard talk that he's more of a limited overs type bowler. When i saw him against Afghanistan in the UAE he looked lethal with the new ball. Well, maybe not lethal, but penetrable for sure.
There's actually a few names I would like to see in and around the squad who were on that tour, Wellington and Chisoro being two of them.
