I want to believe that too but not even the multi-dimensional chess grandmaster Donald Trump himself could strategise his way through this situation with no money, no matches and no status.
For the life of me I can't think of a path to victory here. An isolationist policy is not a winning move, they need the ICC on their side completely and that appears to be so far removed from reality to even consider at the moment.

Obviously, this all had to play out eventually - as you said it was always going to come to this. And the SLC's approach to this was probably pretty good truth-be-told, they just couldn't overcome the cronyism at the ICC.

Kudet, do you think anyone even follows this forum anymore?
i dont think so mate, yesterdays news shattered everyone.. to be honest this hurts and i wouldnt blame anyone who loves zimbabwe cricket so much with what is going on. what everyone wants is a functional administration, a functional franchise/provincial and club system where players are selected on merit, where there is no skulduggery. i fell in love with cricket during the 1999 cwc and from there cricket was my number one sport with soccer not so distant. i had the opportunity to attend the 2003 cwc opening match btwn zimbabwe and namibia as a youngster who skipped classes to just watch the sport i so loved. come the 2004 fiasco, i was heartbroken by what was taking place and that changed the landscape for cricket forever with corrupt elements although there was some bit of hope that cricket was to go back to what it was. i used to religiously follow the team whenever there was an international match in harare. you could tell when you just have a random conversation with fellow fans at the grandstand, all you heard was that cricket is not properly managed and the optimism that people had that if we had the right adaministrators at the helm, there would be change and continuity but what this just spells is that cricket like any other state institution is captured and its us the fans and the players who suffer the most. to be honest, i dont know if there will be a tomorrow for zimbabwe cricket. if you just look at how other cricket boards are managed and how much they try to improve the game even at grassroots level, you start asking yourself whether we are cursed or not. i dont think there will be a comeback on this one and if it is to be, what a miracle it would be but my heart bleeds that we have got to where we are today. its really sad that selfish interests and corruption have eroded the game i so love. cry my beloved zimbabwe

If I’ve got it wrong and they’re demanding the reinstatement of the new board then SRC need to proceed with in-depth investigations to prove theft and corruption at every level. No cricket is better than allowing these muppets to keep taking millions of dollars. The national players have cracked a sad but its not just about them, they’re only a cog in the wheel of a functioning cricket society. They should have stood up a long time ago, they had the power and did nothing and they no longer have the ace that they had. I blame them a lot, they held the trump cards for years.
It remains to be seen if SRC are prepared to act on the information they have and to turn up the heat. People cooperate better when they’re behind bars.

Well...

While the ICC was always capable of such a stupid decision, there was still some hope in some corner. But well, they are ICC.

We've been through a lot of sadness in these forums, but this is the saddest of all. We are now officially reduced to "nostalgia only" place.
Yeah my thoughts exactly, this might very well be the end 😢

I’m off for a 6 week holiday around Europe so I’ll be staying off the forum, hopefully there’s some better news when I return, but I sadly doubt it
Sigh! :(

It feels like this is The End.

Take a look at That Reporter’s latest tweet!
Claims he was the one that first questioned missing money as far back as 2008. He was a little late on that as it started before then, but I’m sniffing an about turn here.
He’s now gingerly putting one foot the other side of that fence and that barbed wire resting gingerly in No Man’s “
Land

Soon we'll have a "ZCF Match Thread Memory Thread", where we reminiscence about the best and funniest match threads.

ICC want a democratically elected board.
Isn’t there an argument that The board was t democratically elected?

Another question.
Isn’t the South African selection policy also government interference?

Just reading Coltart’s tweet that the players wanted to address the ICC board but were denied. Something smells fishy with these ICC guys. They’re just a bigger smarter version of ZC.
